Rutgers travels to North Carolina on Saturday. The key to the matchup will be our offensive line against their pass rush.

Don't think we'll pull it out but should be a fun game.

You also have Notre Dame vs. Michigan. Definitely not the match-up it was years ago, but still a big deal in the Midwest and important to both programs who are desperately seeking to rekindle some respectability.

It's also the first night night game in the history of Michigan Stadium. Michigan is going to be sporting some throwback uniforms.

Mizzou and Arizona State are both ranked and playing this week in Tempe. Looks like the game opened with ASU as a 7 point favorite. Given the so-so performances by both of these teams in week 1, I wouldn't touch this bet with a 10 foot pole on either side.

'Bama vs. PSU is a matter of 'Bama's QBs not screwing up like they did in game one and I think they will. Michigan vs. ND is a toss up. ND gained a ton of yards, but had 5 TOs in a close loss. Michigan still gave up yards in a solid win, but used turnovers to help separate from WMU. The game will be won, or lost at the line. Can ND's O Line keep Michigan's blitzing in check? Can Michigan's O Line create enough running room for players not named Robinson?

I think we will pull it out. We lost to them by 3 last year with about as bad an offense as you can have. Scott Vallone is gonna go beast mode on them.

Good test for Washington in week 2 to see if they can fix the glaring issues they had in pass defense vs. Eastern Washington as Hawaii and Bryant Moniz come to town.

I was reasonably confident before the season started that the Huskies would win this one, but I'm a lot less confident now.

Big +1. Moniz scares the hell out of me after seeing what EW did.

The added scare factor is that Mitchell wasn't really a running threat. He scrambled effectively a couple times to buy time for his receivers, but he wasn't going to take off downfield for big gains. Moniz however clearly is capable of burning us big-time if we don't keep contain on him, which just complicates things for our young LBs even more.

The one good thing I'll say is that, for the most part, our defense did well on 1st & 2nd down and it was major breakdowns on 3rd down that were the problem. And the errors were correctable ones - improving our zone drops, getting more aggressive about defending the man in your zone, being more aggressive on your blitzes and not thinking too much, lining up with the proper depth distance (too many cases of our corners lining up too far off the LOS).

Still, a lot of legit worries about the Huskies after week 1.

SC vs UGA could be interesting, at least if you're into QB controversies & coaching hot seats. CMR almost certainly has to steal at least two games he isn't supposed to win in order to keep his job (although the closest thing I've got to a source these days says anything short of the Eastern Div title means he's gone), this is a chance to get one of those games if Spurrier gets his QB rotation wrong.

Iowa travels to Iowa State to play the Cyclowns. Always a big game. The Clowns always get up for this game. They have a running QB, which is a bonus. We need work against those type of QBs as we see quite a few this season. I think we manhandle them.

Go Hawks!

I think he survives a loss this weekend (short-term) if only because they don't really have a plan B ready to go on short notice. If his fate has become clear by late in the season, I wouldn't be surprised to see an interim HC (probably Rodney Garner) finish the season ... clearing the way for Jon Gruden to be hired shortly after the season ends.

Trying to be impartial to start the thread.

That being said, the Horns are gonna whip BYU so bad it will drive the Mormons in attendance to drink.

It's ok, cause when BYU is done with your quarterback, the entire Texas team will be wearing their own funny underwear!

I'm sure Bryan Harsin has a trick play designed using the funny underwear. No less than 6 different players lined up under center against Rice.

McGarity doesn't fire Richt mid-season. Gruden certainly isn't the next UGA HC.

Reading Dawgvent too much lately, Jon?

I read a quote by Gary Patterson or someone that he counted at least 50 trick plays in Harsin's arsenal..

Nope, haven't read it in ages.

That's just the word I've been hearing for months from someone who doesn't steer me often but has never steered me wrong so far either. I have a tougher time buying the "must-at-least-win-the-East-or-be-fired" part than I do the Gruden part frankly.

And since this kind of thing seems to stir controversy around here, I'm not particularly interested in impressing anyone here with some "anonymous source", I'm just sharing what I've been told by someone that I believe has reason/access to know things, take it or leave it {shrug}.

If it goes too far south & he doesn't, he may find himself with the proverbial moving van sitting in his driveway some morning. (not saying he'd be ousted, just that the natives would turn incredibly hostile toward him for failing to act)

As it is the only thing missing are the "Fire Mark Richt" bumper stickers (ala Willie Martinez) that became quite popular around Athens a few years back ... of course, on the other hand, that doesn't seem to have helped much.

As far as dawgvent goes, you're missing out on some serious laughs (same with Stingtalk, actually). Second of all, I still find it hard to believe the Gruden rumors. They've been around forever it seems.

Richt doesn't win the East? He's done. Period. No Gruden. If I'm wrong, Jon, I'll buy you a ribeye at the 5 & 10.

For those who don't know Athens, GA, that's a serious amount of conviction he just displayed right there.

Damned if I'm that confident in waking up tomorrow morning, much less on the vagaries of college hiring.

I have confidence that PJ gets another ACC championship before Gruden sniffs the shit streets of Athens.

Excited that I get to watch the game tonight. I was supposed to be working a wedding tonight, but managed to find someone else. Nice late night with nothing but football since the kids will be in bed.

Hoping Franklin will follow up on his comment that he won't 'play like a girl' like he did in week 1.

Amazing that we've won 22 straight non-conference games, including 8 straight away from home. Just from looking over some Arizona St. boards and local newspapers, they're building this up as a must win for their coach. Would love to see the boys keep that streak going.

Wow, just noticed that spread is up to 10. Seems like a large spread, but I'm still not sure I'd touch it.

That guy should be at WVU. He chose FIU over West Virginia because when he put both teams' hats on his bed, his infant son consistently crawled to the FIU hat instead of the WVU hat. Good times.

Hilton is a classic example of a kid Shannon let go right through his hands. It seemed like he never could get those under the radar, diamond in the rough type kids, and then struck out a ton with his highly ranked players.

Mizzou secondary gave up three big deep balls on CB to S switches. If they can clean that up in the second half, we should win the game. MU didn't play well and is still only down six on the road against a good opponent.

Edit: Had heard about the bad penalties on ASU. Amazing to see them actually happen. Some really stupid moves by their players already in the first half.

I don't believe in "ice the kicker" he missed two tonight and definitely should have made that last one.. he's a senior and has made big kicks before.. just wasn't his night.

Franklin played well and Josey looked great. Our defense looked like shit and still took ASU to OT and had a chance to win.

Too many penalties by both teams though.. especially Mizzou.

I was at the game and thought Franklin looked awful...maybe re-watching it on TV will give me a different perspective, but he lingered far too long in the pocket, took off far too easily, and when he did throw was usually nowhere near his target. I felt like we were in that game despite Franklin, not because of him

Franklin wasn't the problem last night. He played very well and really impressed.

30 points should be plenty. That defense has been called by Pinkel 'the best defense he's ever had'. Looked to me last night that it still needs some work on how a CB hands off a receiver to a safety.

With that said, still an extremely fun game to watch. Ressel has been nails his entire career. We'll give him a pass on one bad game.

Franklin has a terrible throwing motion. It looks like he is shot putting the ball. If Mizzou faces some corners with great speed, those out patterns will be pick sixes.
