A Fantastic Soccer Moment

My daughters 4th grade soccer team scrimmaged my other daughters 6th grade soccer team. And, boy, did my 4th graders team give them a run for their money. The 6th grade team won, 2-1. It was a pretty equally played game. The big difference was the size of the girls. The 6th graders were bigger, faster and stronger. But the 4th graders were technically better.

But thats just the side note of the great part of the story. Here is the backstory. At basketball camp last spring, one of the 6th grade girls was bullying My 4th grade daughter. Calling her ugly because she had just gotten glasses. I was very disappointed because I had coached the bully and hoped she had a little more respect then that. The bullying really upset my daughter. And the bullys grandmother who was there brushed it off as kids being kids. Sad.

Now tot he game. The bully is playing on the 6th grade team. The bully is going for a neutral ball and her comes my 4th grader. BAM. Lights her up. Sent her flying to the ground. It was incredible. I was out of my chair cheering. It was a legal play. The bully got up dazed. I was, and still am, smiling. I love sports.
