Also,
Georgia Southern is playing Alabama this weekend. Georgia Southern is #2 in the FCS, Alabama is #3 in the FBS. I can't remember a matchup like this, especially this late in the season, between top 5 teams in their respective divisions. I'm sure it's happened, but I wouldn't be shocked if Georgia Southern kept it within two scores. |

Tonight we get UNC vs #8 VT on ESPN, along with #20 Southern Miss taking on UAB. Tomorrow ESPN has #2 Ok State traveling to Iowa State.
Ranked matchups are slim: #5 Oklahoma @ #22 Baylor #13 Kansas State @ #23 Texas #16 Nebraska @ #18 Michigan For those who care, Big East title implications in place with Cincy @ Rutgers. A Cincy win puts them well into the driver's seat, and a Rutgers win could lead to a three way tie if things break right. |

Rumors blew up this week that Knile Davis was returning to the field for this Saturday's game against Mississippi State (for Arkansas, obv). Coach Petrino shot the rumor down, but the fact that he is practicing and has been for a couple of weeks is extremely good news.

Before I was ever exposed to the wonder that is MBBF, I was actually a fan of Mizzou football because of Gary Pinkel. He was a long-time assistant at the UW under Don James and was the popular choice among the fanbase to take over when Jim Lambright was fired in '98 (instead we got the surprise hiring of Neuheisel). The part of me that doesn't hate Mizzou football because of MBBF is sad to hear about Pinkel screwing up like this. I have to think Don James is particularly upset by this news - not only was Pinkel a long-time assistant, DJ coached him as a player at Kent State.

Washington attempts to get back off the mat this week and take down Oregon State on the road. Huskies still in position to close the season strong and finish at 8-4 heading into the bowls, something that most Husky fans would have figured highly optimistic heading into the season, what with having to replace their best offensive player (Jake Locker) and defensive player (Mason Foster).

Depends on how much 'Bama cares offensively. I think Nebraska wins this because they are the more physical team. PSU @ OSU. Maybe one of the ugliest offensive games of the year, but PSU finally goes on the road post scandal, and they absolutely need this for the Leaders division title.

If neither Bergeron nor Brown is available for the Horns, with Fozzy Whittaker done for the season after the knee injury at Mizzou, K-State should win easily. The defense will keep them in the game, but unless they can score, it won't matter.

Yeah this is a very interesting time of year for this game. Alabama will likely not be in it as much as they might need to be against Southern. A 24-7 type game. |

RU vs. Cin, if CIN wins, I think the BCS bowl is theirs. If RU wins, we need to win one more and hope for WVU to lose.

I'm sure hoping we can get a big game out of Polk. Sark has gotten away from the run a bit lately (certainly due in large part to the quality of defenses faced). I know you're pessimistic, but these days I don't take any road game for granted. Games in Corvallis haven't been a cakewalk for the UW in a long time... |

Putting it in here for ease: Dillon Baxter has been granted his release from USC. He is expected to transfer to either SDSU or Florida. His attitude was a MAJOR issue on campus. I hope he gets his head on straight as he still has a lot of potential.

Not really, even if PSU has 2 conf. losses, as long as UW wins this week, PSU v. Wisconsin will be for the Leaders title, thanks to OSU's loss at Purdue last week.

Not taking anything away from ISU, nothing at all. They are playing hard, their QB looks exceptional and the crowd has been huge. But again, they aren't there. I'll be stunned if they win this game. Defense is exhausted at this point. Offense isn't clicking at all. If they do win, it's one of their better wins of the season, and I don't care that it's Iowa State.
Huge, huge play by OSU there. A really poor pass by that QB I just talked up. |

I'm kind of a mad hatter (I have no problem with what Smith did in Atlanta last week), but I'd go for this. Over a minute left and an exhausted defense and Iowa State with three time outs. I'd have went for it. That FG looked good by the way.

Very close.. can ISU pull it out? If it goes OT, I don't see them winning.

OT here we go. I think Iowa St. is insane here. OSU's D is exhausted. 1st and 20, plenty of timeouts, I don't get it. You are at this point because of your aggressiveness and now you decide to become a sissy?

These announcers are insane. On one hand they talk about OSU playing with heavy hearts and their minds elsewhere. On there other, they talk about how OSU should be motivated because of the BCS.
Look, jack asses, it's the first one. I'm just a freakin grad who never met the people who died today and it's been on my mind all day. The ISU play just shows how OSU isn't there mentally at all. They haven't done one "little" thing right all night long. It isn't going to start now. The only reason they are in the game is the supreme talent advantage. Without that, Iowa State would have won this game by fifty. |

Feel really bad for those OSU kids and coaches. Obvious they weren't all there tonight.
