FOF Pro and FOF College

do any of you guys combine the both of these?
if so, do you like it?
what are the pros and cons of it?

i just got the pro game a few days ago and love the heck out of it. im thinking about getting the college game someday and wanted to get your input.

A few quick thoughts:

-The college game is pretty dated, and not as refined as the pro game... I personally still think that if you like the genre it's well worth the money even to buy it today, but it's fairly limited compared to the pro game. No playcalling, not as much detail in gameplanning and strategy, and a lot less detail with player skills and development.

-Linking the two games is pretty fun if your primary goal is the "universe building" of it, but many serious FOFers have long ago given up on using this as a meaningful way to create a good pro universe. Lots of problems in translation (poor college players becoming top pro prospects, difficulty in translating certain skills, overall talent distribution, lack of usefulness in using college stats as a scouting tool) leave most of us wanting.

Personally, I'd say that if you love the pro game, play the pro game. If you think you'd like a somewhat similar game based on recruiting and so forth, then go buy the college game, it's pretty good. But don't put down your money specifically because of the concept that the two games can link together into one two-part football nirvana -- you'll be pretty disappointed if that's where you set the bar.

thanks for the info QuikSand.

ya i guess i was dreaming a lil too much there. i have played a few online mass player football games that try to head in that direction. but they lacked statistical realism that this game seems to have. along with some of the other problems you can get with online gaming.

an online football world with high school - college - pro systems all integrated with this type of statistical realism would be the bomb. and throw in a cheat proof system to boot. i know-i know.... now im really dreaming..lol

Just thought I'd throw a +1 in here behind Quik's post. I've dabbled with the College Years recently and it still holds up (which basically means if FOF entertains you, TCY will as well). The two integrate in a way that is quirky at best, but if you're looking for some extra hook to sustain a career, quirky sometimes helps.
