As someone who is hearing impaired, I hope he develops quickly with his speech and doesn't have too much of an issue through school! Even if he does, he'll be forever grateful to be able to hear!
I was lucky enough to have been able to hear when I was a baby only then to lose my hearing after the age of one. THen shortly after getting hearing aids. I did have a speech teacher all through middle school though. I don't have the problems that a lot of deaf/hearing impaired kids have where they speak funny with all vowel sounds.
