Taking the plunge

I am no where near as active on the board as I once was, but there still are quite a few of you that are still around that was in the RWBL or JBL with me...so I figured I would add this here since I am not facebook friends with everyone.

I am 33 years old and there came a point in my life where I accepted being single and that I may be that way for the rest of my life. I wanted a wife and kids, but maybe I wasn't suppose to take that route.

Then earlier this year I went out with my friends and we decided to be idiots. You see we go to Indianapolis every year for the Big Ten Basketball tournament. It's a time where 4 married men and myself get to act like college guys (drinking, playing video games, and watching basketball) for 4 days.

Well (spearheaded by me) we were drunk one day and came up with the plan for them to dress up in suits and me in a tux (which i bought for $25 at Burlington Coat Factory) go out to the bar and say I got left at the altar. I fully admit right now that it was stupid, cruel, and karma may still bite me in the ass...but when you are drunk sometimes ideas like this seem fun.

At the bar, we're yucking it up with some gals when this cute blonde comes up to me and tells me that this whole thing reeks of Barney Stintson. I smirk and smile...and say no no no it's real...so when I fumbled to as to where we were suppose to get married she tells me that she use to be a wedding planner and knew all the churches and reception areas in the town. So to make a long story short my gig was up.

But she stayed and talked to me...and we walked around city talking till sun up. Thankfully she forgave me and I'm blessed for it. The long distance was hard but it made us talk about a lot of things.

Well to make a long story...less long...tonight I am asking that woman to marry me. I honestly thought this one going to be one of the toughest decisions I would ever have to make in my life...but it's been one of the easiest. I haven't been this happy...well maybe in forever. I feel a peace that I've never felt before. I am just thankful that she didn't see me for as that idiot person who pulled the prank...she actually got to know me.

Wish me luck!

Awesome, good luck, Brian!

I am beginning to feel like the only long time poster who is 30 and older who isn't married or about to be.

But, hey, I am pretty sure I have found the one, too. I just haven't decided when or how to pop the question yet.

I know more people that wound up meeting the one after they resigned themselves to being single.

Congratulations, and good luck, we are all counting on you.

2) +1 on wearing the $25 tux
