To track player values, ratings, your team economy, your game ratings, a whole bunch of fun stuff...

If you had not figured, yeah, I use excel

Would an Access database work better?

It certainly would, but when you work some 8 hours a day with excel and transferring and analysing data in and out of excel spreadsheets, you get used to it

There's also the fact that I don't feel like learning Access...

FM
PS: other thing I do with my excel spreadsheet is that it gives me a numerical value for players at every one of the main position they can play. Then, when shopping on the transfer market, I can analyze quickly if a certain player will fit on my roster and actually improve it...

Hmm... if someone wrote a kickass Access database to import and track player data, it'd be REAL handy... anyone here know Access? Or am I gonna have to get off my ass and figure it out?

I calculate positional player ratings with Excel, and mark off who's getting trained this week, but not much else.

The only other piece of software was a Java program I wrote to highlight interesting players on a page of info from a transfer search. But, I'm trying to shy away from the market for the time being (back in debt, sigh), so testing on that software is halted.

I've got a 4-page spreadsheet for each week of action so far (all 2 of them). Yes, I am a geek.

I could use this exact same sentence. Microsoft Works is a bit of an oxymoron though isn't it?

I was going to write a Java, Java Applet, C, or C++ program for hattrick... but didn't know what I would want it to do The .hrf file really use a nice format for this stuff... anyone who knows some programming knows it doesn't seem hard to read in the values and so something with it

I'm cutting my teeth as a recreational C++ programmer... maybe if I ever get past "Day 4" of "Teach Yourself Visual C++ in 21 Days" I'll do something about it...

Ditto. HAM does everything I need and if I decide I need something else, Loke seems to be pretty quick with reasonable feature requests.

I don't recall there being any amphibians on my family tree, but stranger things have happened (ok, not really, but you get the point...).
