Salary cap issue
I signed a bunch of free agents the previous season and I admit I went a little overboard on how much I chose to pay them. This season though I am two million over the salary cap. It's not a huge deal as next year it looks like I will be over 20 million under the salary cap. For this current season though I am not able to sign any free agents without being penalized a draft pick.
I am at the 46 limit so if anybody gets injured and I have to sign another guy I will get penalized another draft choice (already have had two taken away from me). My question mainly lies though in what will become of my draft picks. Right now they are sitting there unsigned because I can't afford to pay anybody any more money. Will they just continue to sit there until next season when I can pay them or will they be released for other teams to sign once the season starts (just finished training camp and am about to start preseason). Luckily though I did only lose one guy who I really would of liked to of kept (Anthony Spencer) through free agency. My cap problems kind of took me by surprise and I'm not sure if it is because the negotiations are tougher on 6.4 than 6.2 (I used to play 6.2 and it seemed like I was always 20 million under the cap no matter who I tried to sign). Am starting my third season on the 6.4 version. |

Unsigned draft picks will reenter the draft the following season.

yeah, negotiations are tougher in 6.4.
Get an all-star cast of star players, especially at a few key positions, and you can run yourself up pretty close if you re-sign everybody dutifully. |
