So what's going on with my car's paint job!?

This car is about a year old and has not had any sap or bird doo-doo sitting on the paint for extended periods of time. I bring this up because thats what the dealership blamed it on. This looks really bad to me, like the paint job is deficient and these spots are going to start becoming more numerous and grow in size. Help, please!

It is hard to tell from the picture, but it does look like some sort of solvent did get on the paint.

I would take it to a local car paint shop and see that they think it could be. If the dealership won't take care of the problem the shop should be able to do a touch up job for little cost.

Must have something to do with the confirmation of acceptance.

It is hard to tell from those pictures but it looks like something ate away at the clear coat. It is impossible to say what though.

The fact that you didn't find a way to catch your naked reflection in either of those photos just...disappoints, son.

And this was a new car when you bought it a year ago?

It was new when I bought it last Nov. I think its too early to have the paint acting like this.

It is, and unusual spot from the looks of your pictures.

If clearcoat peels it tends to do so from an edge, the fact that it seems to be starting in the middle indicates some type of substance caused that.

Why did someone crudely draw a vagina on your car hood?

What is the make and model of the car? I had an old Chrysler Lebaronwhere the clear coat started flaking off. It turns out that was pretty common for that particular make and model. Maybe you are suffering from something similar.

I had some bs on my 2005 Corolla where the paint started peeling off of the hood about 4 years into having the car. I took it in and the dealership claimed it was from driving and getting rocks under the paint which caused it to bubble up. You know, me and my offroading Corolla.

Ultimately, I ended up paying because my whole hood was starting to peel but my car insurance covered some of it under my comprehensive policy. But it just made me feel like the car dealer was making crap up and made my happy to have State Farm for insurance.

Any car is going to have a certain amount of rock chips that develop over time but an 05 shouldnt have the clear coat peeling because of it
