Why does my QB run so much???

I have a QB who currently has just about as many rushing attempts as my #2 RB and almost as many as my #1. He's second on the team in rushing yards.

His scramble frequency is 82. I'm sure this has something to do with it. I've got my game plan set to be more run than pass. My play selection is 286/201 pass/run so far through 8 games. Despite the more run heavy game plan.

I've talked to other GM's who've had high scramble QB's, that have said they haven't seen a QB run as much as mine. (he's averaging 7 rushes/game. That's a lot for a QB, isn't it?))

Granted now, the guy is averaging nearly 6 YPC. So it's not like he's not productive when he runs. He's also got an 82 passer rating. So...should I just shut up and not complain about this? Or should it be a concern that this guy runs so much?

Just be glad you don't have a QB like mine who loves to run, gets 3-5 yds per carry and fumbles a ton.

Well, for all the good this guy does running the ball, he does lead the league in fumbles.

Not really. Occasionally I do. But not an unusual amount.

How high is his sense rush bar? It would make me assume that either he's low on that, or the OL is very bad in pass protection and forces the QB to rush plays and rather than taking the sack, he's taking a run for his money.

Edit: and keep in mind that even 8 games can give an off-base-figure from what would be 'normal' for this QB on his offense.

Yeah...that's very low. Sense rush is 1 and scramble frequency is 82. 3 of the starting 5 Olinemen's PBK is above 55.
