Weird Stat Drop

In SP I have a 2nd year RCB who creeped from 28/51 as a rookie to 54/54 after his 2nd training camp to 62/62 at the end of the 2nd season (preplayoffs).

I looked at switching him to LCB and got the message we all see "This change can be made without any change in player ratings ... there will be slight reduction ... experience"

So I made the change and he dropped to 52/52.

I closed the game and reopened to my last save point at week 15 when he was a 60/60 and made the change, 52/52. Did it again, 52/52.

Curious if this people think this represents an increase in his mask, or if my coaches were overestimating his rating as a RCB? Or is there another explanation?

For now I'm leaving him at RCB.

The ratings projection indicated when making a position switch is related to the values of the individual bars, not the overall rating. For each position, bar values have different weights when the overall rating is calculated. I'm going to take a guess that your S had a low Bump and Run bar or Man Coverage bar, since they are weighted more heavily in the calculation of the CB's overall rating.

That logic makes a lot of sense in switches between positions, however, he's saying he's trying to switch from RCB to LCB.

Perhaps the masking makes it look like the player went from 60/60 to 50/50, but in fact he went to 50/60 and needs to regain those 10 lost points by gaining experience at LCB? That's the best guess I have for now.

Ha, I completely misread that. Wow. I have no idea why that would be.
