Position switching a Centre
Anybody had any luck moving a C to either T or G?
I know it depends on retained % but if that looks acceptable, will they generally keep developing as well as you would expect at C? |

It's not a problem to Guard. Tackle, I wouldn't try. Things to keep in mind whe position switching:
1) Make sure they have as close to the idea weight as possible, for the new position, since this affects the percentage. If you have to wait until after camp, to bulk up a player closer to the ideal weight, then wait. 2) If you care about overall ratings, make sure you have a general idea of how each bar is weighted for the new position. A Center with a high run-block bar will retain more of his overall rating in a switch to Guard because run blocking is more heavily weighted in the overall ratings calculation for Guard. |

In the GEFL 2 I moved 2 Centers. One to RT and the other to LT before their rookie TC.
They are both pretty good now. They both dropped some in rating with the move but I attribute that to no longer having the long snapping as all their other bars stayed the same. LT is 35/63 RT is 22/58 Almost done with their rookie years. |

I think that the game really seems to value(possibly overvalue) the importance of a center, so I wouldn't move him if he's a stud. Admittedly I haven't played much FOF lately, so I could be misremembering.

There was a stud center in the CyFL who was moved to guard...
...and then to tackle... ...and he's still a stud pass blocking starting tackle. So, I guess, it can be done. But he lost a great deal of ratings in the process. The earlier you do it (before TC) the better. Disturbed, I don't think long snapping figures into it. It's probably more that the tackle OVR ratings figure certain bars into it more (pass blocking) while centers weigh run blocking higher. |
