FOF7 - AI Dynasties/Mini-Dynasties?

I just noticed a very nice little run by the Jets in my SP career. (I'm playing the Raiders. Heidi wouldn't approve, I suppose.) They've won 10+ games and been to the postseason 7 straight years. (Actually they won 11 or more in all but one of those seasons.) In that time they also have 6 division titles, 3 bowl appearances, and 2 titles.

The Vikings don't have as many consecutive playoff seasons as the Jets, but they have had more overall success: zero losing seasons in 11 seasons, 6 Bowl Appearances, 4 Titles, and an 18-4 record in the postseason.

Any nice runs by AI teams in your careers?

I'm four years in my career with the Bears. I started with an allocation draft with injuries set to 200 and the combine set to 25.

2013 San Francisco 37 vs. Baltimore 13
2014 New England 38 vs. NY Giants 31
2015 New England 37 vs. NY Giants 10
2016 Chicago 41 vs. Baltimore 10

The Patriots are the most dominant team over this time frame, going 54-10, followed by the Giants are 49-15, and Baltimore at 43-21. They are strong every year.

Dallas is at the other end of the spectrum, having gone 16-48 over four years, filled with constant poor drafting.

Ben, have you looked at the couching staff for these winning teams? Wonder if it is because of the players they had, the other teams in the division sucking arse or just having the same staff for some time...just a thought. I haven't even touched single player past pre season.

I can only assume you are playing a fictional Vikings team in a very fictional world, since the 4 titles are not a possible reality for the Vikings, at least in my lifetime, or my kids, or their kids, . . .

I only had two guys go on IR, both during the exhibition season. One guy was done for the year when he got injured during the playoffs. It seems to be more realistic when I look at The NFL Injury Report. At 100, I'd go through the season relatively unscathed.

only reason I asked is that I think at 125 I was averaging like 2-4 a season; also the NFL puts a lot of marginal players especially at the end of the year on IR when it's only a couple week injury as opposed to the AI in FOF which doesn't (afaik);

i didn't really look to see how my staff was though so maybe a small sample size

Apropos of nothing, just wanted to add these interesting tidbits from my casual, hit-the-recommend-button-all-the-time starter dynasty:

We're 40 years in...

1. Only 3 of the top 15 career rushers have a FO Bowl ring.
2. The "Legend of the Game", third all-time yardage leader/2nd in TD's QB from GBY who took the not-Packers to the FO Bowl and lost 3 times, just won his first FO Bowl as a rookie head coach with no other coaching experience.
3. In 2031, Miami drafted the top-rated QB in the draft. Denver drafted the 3rd rated quarterback. They both graded out in the 72-76 range. The Miami QB was a scrambling bomber. The Denver QB was a low-mobility West Cost type. In the intervening years, Denver beat Miami 12 straight times, including 4 times in the playoffs. Miami never won a FO Bowl, though they made it to three. Denver won 4, including a three-peat. The big difference? Miami invested heavily in outstanding RB's, while Denver went after really good WR's.

I don't know what else to say except that running storylines like that are three of the big reasons I love this game.

Been using the historical database files starting with the 1960 season. I am currently in year 1967 and the Colts are incredible.

In 7 seasons they have made the Super Bowl 6 times winning it 4 times.

Their overall record to date is 103-21. They are 17-3 in the playoffs overall.

They've had the same Coaching staff through all of this.

Im 52 years in and 18 teams have been to 3 or less. Memphis with 10 (6) and Houston with 9 (3) are the top bowl appearance teams. Poor Minnesota, Montreal and Oklahoma haven't sniffed a title game.

Only three seasons in but Green Bay have won the bowl every year with Aaron Rodgers MVP in all three.

I dropped mine down to 85 IIRC after getting five injuries in my first pre-season game.. two longer term ones.. and a similar amount in the second at default 100!

At that rate, half my starters would have injuries at the start of the regular season.

I'm 13 years in with the 2013 rosters, and while the championship teams have varied, there were two recurring occurrences:

--As others said, the Aaron Rodgers's Packers were good every year until he retired. They won two championships.

--Geno Smith of all people has turned out to be the QB with the most rings and SB appearances. He had three championships, one with the Jets, two with the Titans, and had a total of five championship appearances.

I lost four superbowls in a row, dumped my QB, traded the world for the 1st pick, and won the next 2. That's 6 in a row (going 2-4), from 2053 to 2058. This after losing 1 SB between 2011 and 2044, winning in 45 and 49.

Why did it take 30+ years to win the 1st? Ignoring the value of mentors.

It was fine for a few seasons but after having 8 players go on IR plus numerous other several week injuries, I've dropped it down to 150.

The 49ers put together a great dynasty using the historical rosters and starting in 1980. Montana led his team to 6 SBs, winning 3. They constantly denied my Phil Simms led Giants team a trip to the Superbowl. Every season other than his last 3, it was Niners in the Bowl or the NFC title game. Impressive.

Poor Phil Simms retired with great regular season numbers and success, but was denied ever experiencing a SB thanks to Montana. I drafted Steve McNair a couple seasons after Simms retired and finally won a SB in McNair's second year.
