Thoughts on Volatility rating
I'm curious as to what the group think might be in regards to Volatility. In the inaugural season of the relaunched WOOF, I finished tied for the best record in the league a 13-3. By far my best season ever in FOF MP. I have all of the team locked up for next season, except for the QB position. He had a tremendous season this year, by far exceeding what you'd expect out of a 49/49 QB. He finished 4th in QB rating, 6th in yards, and tied for 3rd in TDs.
My issue is that he wants >$10 million to extend. Normally, that would be a no brainer to try and make happen. But what is keeping me from pulling the trigger is that he has a 99 for volatility. I'm curious as to if that is something that affect ratings game to game, or season to season. If season to season, then he probably is at his peak, and has nowhere to go but down, and I don't want $10 million tied up. Think Mark Rypien circa 1991.

I had always thought volatility only affected a player early in his career (first 3 to 4 years) and, especially in this version, that is why you see the varying scouting ratings early on. Maybe I am wrong in this, but I didn't think it affects veteran players. I just thought you had the usual decline in the later stages of their career.

That's what I remember as well from previous versions. But what gives me pause is that he had a pretty big Training Camp jump. I can't find the thread, but he had an increase of 6-8 points in his 7th year.

So I decided to let him walk. He was signed during FA by another team for $20 mil per season.
The decision looks to be a sound one. It appears that having a great offensive line can help mask the deficits of a poor QB. The 44/44 QB I replaced him with is currently 5th in the league in QB rating at the quarter pole of the season. The guy I let walk is 17th, even though he got another bump in ratings post-TC.
