Elicense
It has been said a thousand times a thousand ways. I just feel the need to add one more. A PC issue set me back over a week ago. As I was able to begin putting things back in place I emailed elicense with a request for a copy of my ID. Since then I have emailed them twice and completed their support form on their site an additional two times and nothing. No acknowledgment at all.
Elicense...... How many customers have companies lost due to their lack of customer support. |

Unbelievable! Not a word from Elicense. I'm beginning to wonder if their is anyone there or if it's just an automated front. Hope Jim realizes how their support turns people off.
A question though. Does FOF7 have a receipt file like 2007 after installed in it's root directory? I can't find it. |

Thanks guys. Not sure why, but I have gained access again to my original boot drive and all of my files are in place "except" for the receipt file. ???
Not sure what the hell is going on but do know that I have all but reached my limits with patience with elicense. |

It takes them weeks to respond sometimes, but they do respond eventually

I have ordered the game with the additional CD, but instead of the 7 version, I received the CD of the previous version (2007), which I already own.
I have sent elicense at least three emails, called them twice, and filled the support request form at least three times, STILL no answer... Thats pretty frustrating ! Really a bad customer support. ![]() |

I apologize for problems with customer service. I brought so much of this up when I agreed to elicense FOF7. I was promised better technology and better customer response. This CD thing, if it's not just a one-off mistake, is absolutely crazy. I've disabled CD ordering until I can find out what's going on there.
I don't know if there ever will be another game, but I can safely say that I'm unwilling to release a new product through ViaTech. They still swear they answer every support email quickly, and to look in spam traps for an automated response with a ticket number. I can follow up on any ticket numbers. We've been handling issues from those who can't find any response from them, but license resets and anything to do with billing have to go through ViaTech. |

Wish you the best in the Greenlight process with Steam. From what little I've read, it sounds like an imperfect process and the hill to climb is very steep. It may not necessarily be fair, just owing to their absolute inundation with requests. But if you can manage to stick through it...that's e-licensing done right.
Jim, have you heard of gog.com and greenmangaming.com? They also sell games online and I think have a similar model as Steam, but it may be much easier to get FOF on there. Don't quote me on that -- but it would be a great starting point and if it is anything like Steam, offer a much smoother user experience. |

ViaTech sent me a CD. The label says 2007. There is an installation file for 2007 and a "CD" folder. The CD folder contains another copy of the same 2007 installation file AND an FOF7, version 7.0 installation file (the .msi file as opposed to the .exe file).
So, FOF7 is there, but you'd never know it from the label, you get the original release rather than the most recent update and you have to search the CD and know that an .msi file is essentially the same as an .exe when it comes to installing on recent Windows systems. |

First and foremost Jim IMHO you don't have to apologize. Granted your expectation was that they ("V") would maintain a certain level of service which, from what I can tell, is spotty at best and that failure is theirs. Unfortunately in this case it is tied to your product which is not at fault and does create a negative aura over it. But those of us who have followed the game with some semblance of loyalty understand that and although we don't like it we tolerate it. Why? Because of the joy, and for us perpetual losers the frustration, FOF brings both as a game as well as for the communities it generates.

I googled and found this link.
GOG.com Alternatives and Similar Games - AlternativeTo.net It lists a number of sites many I have never heard of. I know it must be frustrating because all that it seems to need is a marketing break that provides more exposure and the game will sell itself. |
