Yeah, Bowen was UNCONSCIOUS tonight. I have a hard time seeing the Lakers pull this one out.

Like those Kings and Blazers of the past?

Guess George was more important than we though

With the reign being disrupted, I hope we dont go one year routes with Pippen and Malone. Pippen is overated and Malone's been the Lakers nemesis for 18 years. Too bad we'll draft real high. Maybe a trade for Mr. Brand of the Clippers?!?

So many questions. Shaw, Horry, Walker, and Mdvedenko are gone

Kodos, you are on a mission to destroy the Cowboys. Are the Lakers on your agenda too? You are a one man dynasty fighting machine!

Actually, the Kobe stopper had a pretty good game stopping Kobe. Kobe got a lot of points on transition and a ton at the foul line. 19 free throw attempts. Still, he shot 10-23 from the floor, which the Spurs will take anyday of the week.

The problem the Spurs had was that nobody could hit a shot outside of Duncan. The other guys shot 27% from the floor. (the other starters were 20% from the floor) Most of the misses were open J's that didn't go down. Those misses led to transition baskets.

All in all, everything went right for the Lakers. They shot 50%+ from the floor, went to the line 40 times, held the Spurs to 40% from the floor and had 21 assists. That makes the series 1-0 (Lakers) when everything goes right for the Lakers, 1-0 (Spurs) when everything goes right for the Spurs and 1-0 (Spurs) when both teams suck.

Forget about the Kobe-stopper. How about the Ref-Stopper, Jack Nicholson.

They should have thrown him out. Just because you're a celebrity doesn't give you a free pass to be an ass.

Nobody was predicting a sweep here. Go Spurs.

BTW, I don't mind good dynasties, like the late-nineties Broncos. But the Lakers must die.

Two Super Bowls is a dynasty? Sorry, no...

But I guess for a Dolphins fan two SB's must seem like an unimaginable dream...

Um. Only undefeated season in league history.

The Cowboys are probably a pretty good team in the jail league.

I'm a die hard Mavs fan, but if the Mavs losing was a requirement for the Lakers to be knocked out, I would take the Mavs and Lakers loss anyday...that is until Shaq, Kobe, and Phil Jackson are gone, then it might be a different story.

Then the free throws start. . .

I know there is a lot of Laker haters here (as well as some fans) You guys are just going to have to hit the realization: As long as the NBA wants the Lakers to win, they'll win. The Spurs did everything they had to do to win this game tonight. Held the Lakers to under 40% from the field, shot nearly 45% themselves. . . and watched the Lakers go to the line almost 50 times. Unbelievable.

Ummm. . . two quick memos guys: Throwing the ball in the air, taking two steps and catching it is called traveling. It's been in the rule book for about 100 years. Read your rule book. When a player has his arms straight up and another guy hits him in the stomach with an elbow, you don't give the guy with his arms straight up his 6th foul. Again, it's a very simple call, it's in the rule book. The real amazing thing? The Spurs were called for breathing on Shaq most of the game, yet when they fouled Fisher at the end of the game, the refs didn't call it and cost the Spurs 10 seconds. Nice.

All the Lakers have to do to win #4 is get the ball to Shaq in the post and have Kobe drive the ball the entire fourth quarter. They do that, they can put Larry, Curly and Moe out with em and it won't matter.

Mr. Bug,

Nah, already had some. Tell me the statement above isn't true. Nevermind, you're a Laker fan. You're so blinded by it you couldn't see what's going on if it hit you over the head with a 2 iron. Like comparing last year's game 5 of the conference finals with game 6. Laughable.

Troy, who shot more foul shots in the game? Spurs need to suck it up and drive to the hole. Duncan will get the calls. He's the freaking MVP! Look at Game 1 when he was presented the trophy?!?

Lakers were killed in Game 5 of last year vs the Kings. The Kings got every call. I doubt you even watched the game though. It was pathetic

MrBug,

I watched the game. 2 of Shaq's 6 fouls were questionable in my mind. Two. The Kings shot 33 free throws in game #5 (Lakers had 23) In game 6, the Lakers shot 27 free throws in just the fourth quarter alone.

The funny thing about game 5 was that the Lakers actually had more free throw attempts than the Kings did in the second half of that game (17-15)

Why do some people throw out stats when it fits their argument and ignore stats when it doesnt fit their argument?

HeyBrad,

Not sure. What stats am I missing? Game 1 of this series? I've already admitted the Spurs got more calls in that game, but also said the Lakers were their own worst enemies because Kobe didn't drive the ball and Shaq didn't touch it late. Had either of those occured, the FT discrepency wouldn't have been there.

What other games would I be missing? Has there ever been a game where an opposing team, in the Shaq/Kobe era, took 27 free throws in the final quarter of a game against the Lakers? How many times has a team ever had 40 FT attempts against them? I mean, what am I missing? The Lakers hadn't had a 40FT game in this years playoffs. . . until snagging two in a row after falling behind 2-0. Just an abnormality? I suppose. The stats from today's game were again amazing though. The Spurs beat the Lakers in every conceivable category outside of free throw attempts and the offensive boards Shaq kept pushing people off for (err, I mean hustled for, yeah, that's it. everyone gets 10 offensive rebounds in a game with 2 fouls called on them)

Just fanning the flames. I know you Laker fans will never agree with me. I know some people who don't care think I whine too much. I know many others don't care about basketball. I only know what I see. Today the better basketball team lost.

Lets look at this angle today. This is a chicken and egg argument. Is Kobe not driving to the basket causing him to get no calls... or... was Kobe driving to the basket, realizing that he's not getting any calls being on the road and all, and adjusts his game? Just something to think about. I'm pretty sure I know how you'll view this.

I fully expect the calls to shift to San Antonio for game 5. It would stick to how the series has gone up to this point. God forbid the Spurs actually win this series. It would completely blow out the conspiracy theory or does the conspiracy theory only apply when the Lakers win.

The NBA should work on a conspiracy to form an Eastern Conference.

Um, well, Kobe is on his back and he just starts licking lower and lower then BOOM, the man is at ass. Throw on some jelly and toss that salad.

I think I may or may not have mental issues, I will let the chipmunk decide.

He says no, so I am good.
