Question about free agency

I just have the fof 2007 version (havn't gotten the latest game yet) but I wonder when teams pick up free agents are they more prone to pick up guys that they have played against? I say this because I often see players changing teams within their own divisions in many cases.

Wondering if there is some deal built in to the game where the AI will tend to go after players they are familiar with because while I can't say it happens all the time (where players will change teams within their own division) it happens enough to where I definitely take notice of it.
