Why You Should Give The Front Office Offseason League A Try, FOOL!

The FOOL will complete its third season tomorrow. Now that we've gotten a chance to work out a few of the initial kinks, it's a great time to jump in and grab a team. The concept is simple: it's the Front Office OFFSEASON League. We focus on free agency and drafting. Here are some things that some of you might like about this setup:

• Despite the fast sim speed, we leave lots of time for drafting. The draft clock times are the longest of any league I'm in. The draft runs for a little more than a week, so you don't feel rushed through it, which is important, because...
• Perhaps the best part of FOF, the amateur draft, happens frequently. Right now, you draft every other week. (If we take on significantly more owners, we might need to extend that to every three weeks since we won't be blowing through as many fast AI picks.)
• Immediate gratification! My 2014 draftees were put onto my roster less than 3 weeks ago. They've already finished their second season.
• Less "mysterious" stuff and house rules to worry about. All teams just use recommended ticket prices, so no need to worry if Quik or Ben or MalcPow has figured out some secret formula to always finish in the top 3 in finances.
• Cool custom reports. I've created some new stuff that will really shine in a league that moves fast, including the "Similar Player" feature.
• Create history FAST. Join most other leagues, and a year real-time from now you'll have around 4 or 5 seasons of history. Join the FOOL, and a year from now you'll have *26* seasons of history.
• Complete with some FOF "Expert" Owners. Draft Lord MalcPow, Chemistry King QuikSand, and Utility Writer Supreme Stelmack all call the FOOL home. See if you can outwit those guys and many others.
• Take a season or two off if necessary, and still hold on to your team. With this setup, I don't know that we'll ever have 32 human owners, so you can claim a team as yours and just keep it, even when you need a break. When set up properly, the FOF7 AI will manage your team pretty doggone well when real life gets in the way and you want to take a month or so off from the league. Just let me know and the AI will take it from there for you until you're ready to re-engage.

Yes. And for the benefit of any others reading this later, I've created a script that automates the tasks of setting up a new owner such as giving you access to the private owners' forum, sending the setup/password info via PM and email, posting a welcome message in the forum, etc. The script can't run until you have an account at the forum with a valid email address. Once you do that, I'll run the script the next time I'm around and you'll have everything you need.

Awesome league, to be able to get the off season within 3 sims is pretty great.

Shockingly (at least to me,) we are now at 30 human-run teams. My goal was 16. At any rate, if you want to give this sucker a try, the near future may be your last chance for a while. It appears that the "immediate gratification" aspect is keeping people quite engaged.

Made it to 32 owners, and 29 of them have exported in the last 48 hours. The 2019 draft class will be revealed tomorrow morning and we have 3 possible openings. If I don't hear from those three guys (JAX/MIA/DEN) by 5:00AM EST on Saturday, their teams will be be declared vacant. Go to the forum and sign up if you want to claim one of them should they become available.
