FOFL: Openings

FOF MP's oldest league*, the FOFL has a number of openings.

We are not speeding anything up like IHOF is as we are content to be more of a slow boat league. FOFL is not a speedboat, it is a pleasure cruise. One to be enjoyed with Celebrities like QuikSand, Subby, Ben E Lou and Hollywood, but next to a bar in a tropical location with some ice-cold Zimas.

Some of the things that make FOFL different from some other leagues:

• Its focus on history, which is preserved no matter how often franchises relocate
  
• A free reign for owners to rebrand their teams as they wish
  
• A Hall of Fame gallery
  
• Team Rings of Honor
  
• Chemistry and Ratings searches
  
• Spiffy game results and box scores
  
• Pretty player pages
  
• A long-standing community which has been playing fake football since 2003 and fake baseball since 2000
  
• A dedicated forum where champions get their own forum styles

So if you are interested in joining - or rejoining - a league with non-NFL teams and fake players which isn't going to go at breakneck speed and isn't going to hold you to a rigorous export schedule, drop me a line. We've had players who were completely new to FOF come aboard before and they've become valued members of the FOxL community. We may not be a BenLeague, but while BenLeagues are great we see this individuality as a good thing.


* there's a debate here between FOFL and IHOF...FOFL was drafting in Dec, 2003, but may not have played a game before IHOF. So it depends on your definition.

Oh - we are currently about to start our 2050 season, with opening day on Wednesday. So we're more in a maintenance stage as far as GM duties are concerned, so there is time to ease in to things. Teams that are immediately available are:

Sam's Town - claimed
New Jersey - claimed
Happy Valley - claimed
Norwich - claimed
Dodge City - claimed
Coney Island

There may be more as we're in the middle of an owner roll call*. But that's a good number to start, and we can fill as we go (it's not the end of the world if a few teams remain on AI control).

I'd love to join as well, and given this will be my first MP league the leisurely cruise aspect suits me just fine.

Happy to take any team but I'll probably relocate it to Australia :-)

First thing you should do is to head over to the FOBL/FOFL forums (or FOxL) and register. I think those might not actually be locked down though I may need to approve new users; if it doesn't work let me know and I'll set up an account manually. But it's probably easier to communicate over there.

From there we'd have to match you with/have you select a team and you'd go through the multiplayer game setup process. There's a thread on how to set up the league files, and another with FTP info for the game to process exports and new stage imports.

Right now we're in the regular season, so there's not a ton to do other than set some lineups and look at gameplans (or even just have the AI set them), but that's probably a good time to get acclimated to things as opposed to the offseason.

That's not a problem. Actually, White Rock is assumed to be in Australia already - 3-time owner brale hails from there. Unfortunately, brale has not checked in since August, so it's probably best to assume he is a 3-time former owner. But, that means the team is open.

We have a team in Norwich, which I believe to be the English version. We also have a team in Cloud City and have had Mercury, Mars (the owner maintained that this was not in Florida but indeed the planet), and Luna City as past locations. Oh, and Ettamogah.

What is the "available" status at this point?

Coney Island, The Village, and State College are available as of right now. I've had inquiries from two folks (including Sway above) who are not hooked in with teams yet. I have another owner who told me in Oct to put his team on AI treatment, but I have to clarify with him if that means he intends to come back or if the team is open (and if the former, if he wants to switch his hold onto his former team, State College).

Ok - Sway has expressed interest in State College, so that basically leaves Hell Creek and Coney Island.

Coney Island and Hell Creek are both filled.

So for now, I'm considering us full - though I will be evaluating that again once we hit the offseason. If a couple of owners don't check in or any new owners don't stick, we may have openings again fairly soon.

Wow, this thread was down the list. Lots of leagues out there.

We have two openings right now, Lackawanna and White Rock. We are running training camp today, so most of the heavy offseason lifting is over so new owners can ease on into things.

As Ben said, the FOFL has openings. We are just entering the preseason stages of 2054 and will begin the regular season after the [US] Thanksgiving holiday.

Do NOT attempt to claim a team simply by registering in the Conscriptor draft tool.

The FOFL is in the midst of an offseason and has a number of owners who have not been minding their rosters or the draft. If anyone is interested, hop on the forums and put in a claim (if you have previously registered you should be cleared; if you have not, do so then give me a heads-up that you did so I can clear your forum registration).

Since we are still in the offseason you'd be eligible for an immediate team rebranding if you wish.

This is a great league and I made it to the playoffs last season, so even a caveman has a shot here! I like making up your own brand (we are the Androids) and Cuervo does some cool art for you. Rush just signed up and he's the Kung Fu Pandas- the helmet art is sick.

If you get in now, there is likely still time to make your first round pick. Hurry up!

theFOFL.com : Owners

We're at the end of another year, and as is typical we have openings. Russia(n), King's Lynn, DeSoto, and Kentucky are available. I suppose Melbourne is too, as their owner hasn't been heard from in months (should probably put out an SOS for deanver in Tallahassee too).

Any new owners can move/rebrand their team, so don't worry about not liking a current team name.
