Author Sir Terry Pratchett Has Died

Terry Pratchett, author of the Discworld series, dies aged 66 | Books | The Guardian

I've been a huge fan since 1993. A great writer, and even better satirist. He finally succumbed to Alzheimer's. Will be greatly missed.

“DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING," said Death. "JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.”

I've always meant to start reading Terry Pratchett books, where's a good place to start?

There are many views on reading order, but my recommendation is either:

1. Do it chronologically based on date of publication, thereby the world develops as Pratchett developed it

or

2. Use the above link to try the first book in each of the "streams" until you find a group of characters you like, and then finish that one, go onto the next, etc....

I had trouble with the first couple Rincewind books and was going to give up but then read Mort, loved it, went through the Death novels and then the other streams worked better for me.

One dude's experience FWIW.

I've had the same handle on Xbox Live for the entirety of the service, in tribute to Terry Pratchett.

Maybe not the most original tribute, but tribute nonetheless.
