Editing Coaches

I thought I saw a thread on here before, but now I cant find it.

I would be interested in editing the coaches files if possible but the only files I could find are the hcnames.dll but after digging through it HC must stand for HOME CITY and not HEAD COACH which makes sense since only 1/5 of the coaches are head coaches anyway.

anyone know if there is a file that contains the coaches information?

probably staff.fdt but dont think there is any way for us to edit the fdt files

this is not opening fdt files which probably means they are a propriety format.

many of you are rolling your eyes at stuff that was probably long ago established, but continuing to post for others that might be interested and dont have the information.

if anyone does have information they want to share that would probably be better then my wild speculation and trial and error heavy on the error methods.

can I vote again for FOF a 2015 EDIT EVERYTHING BUTTON. Please I am OCD and old and controlling and I need to edit everything

I was able to edit some of the names with a hex editor, but in order to beat the checksum all the names had to be the same number characters. For example "Mike Tomlin" could become "John Stamos" without problem.

It's not a checksum, it's that all the strings are variable-length with the binary int length of the string right before it.

wow, too each his own. But I don't understand this at all.

I can only assume that this is based upon competitive concerns in multi player leagues which I don't play, but I do know OOTP handles that just fine as long as you trust the commissioner and of course you could also just disable it for mutliplayer as well.

why you would quit playing a game you love becasue I was editing coaches names and draft classes doesnt make much sense. In fact if I wanted to edit and rank all of my players all 100 and win every game 255-0 I dont know why anyone would care about that either.

I'd love to be able to edit the coaches file, and even better would be able to import historical coaches. One day maybe, but probably not with this version.
