New Player In Need
I've been playing for a few weeks now and been simulating a lot to get a feel for how things pan out in general with players coaches etc. My question right now is how do you find players in the later rounds of the draft that are above average? I understand it should be a rarity but I've sim'd a bunch and haven't ever seen a player from the 4th or later round ever amount to anything other than barely average.
The last thing I'm having trouble with is trading. I love the fact that the game doesn't allow any easy manipulation of the AI in regards to trading however i havent been able to execute even a single trade. I recently offered my both my first round and second round picks for the current and next years draft along with a 75 rated player for the first pick and was turned down. My first round was pick 7. 4 top picks and a dynamite player to move up 6 spots and it was declined. The reason im asking about the trading is I'm having a lot of trouble drafting quality QB's past the first 5 picks. Thanks guys for any help, I'd like to see this site become a bit more active! =) |

Build a team around a game manager then? Sometimes if you're lucky you can score a nice QB in the mid-late rounds. I've seen some AI-teams with ~44 rated QBs having 4500+ yds, 35+ TDs seasons before. Having a good supporting cast can be just as important if not more.

Later round guys it's best to look for exceptional combines and guys that can do 1 thing well. Like rush the passer.
75OVR players aren't worth much, especially when they are older. I'd evaluate what you might get forca player like that trading him straight up. May only be something like upgrading a 4th to a 3rd. If you wanna go up to #1 it's going to cost you 3 #1s and probably 2 #2s. Also the more offers you pitch, the price will increase |

![]() I would direct you to this thread: What are the important combines for each position group? - Front Office Football Central With this one as a backdrop: Some Combine Benchmarks (and Drafting Thoughts) - Front Office Football Central But to be clear, this is, by far, the most active forum for general discussion of FOF. (I think the other reason that you may not have gotten a lot of responses is that a lot of this stuff has already been discussed.)

So for me, one of the ways that I like to grab later guys of quality, and this is in solo, is to find players that have quality and tend to fall, and then select them and perhaps play them out of position or move them over. Or just rely on it.
Perfect example - the center. Every other O line slot requires two starters, and more backups. league doesn't need a lot of centers, so often teh 3rd or 4th best C in a draft s there long after the 16th best OG is off. I can grab a C, and then either start it, play it as a backup elsewhere, or maybe make some changes in camp and move it over to another o line spot. The same is true of FB to TE and stuff like that.

When looking at a player that is down the list (ranking wise), I'm asking myself "Why is he down here?" If there are reasons to suspect he is good, I'm also looking for reasons why he wasn't ranked higher.
For example, maybe he's very low percentage developed. Maybe he's a no combine. Maybe it's just random. Sometimes you do just have to close your eyes and guess. |
