Pro Strategy Football is on the Google Play Store and Amazon!

I've published "Pro Strategy Football 2015" and "Pro Strategy Football Career" to the Google Play Store and Amazon Store! I'm working on some extra tasks that are required for Apple, and I hope to submit it to Apple by next Wednesday!

This has been a long, huge effort. I had to rewrite every screen in C++ (from Objective C) and rewrite all the database code to now use in-memory arrays and binary files. A positive side effect is that computer simulations are now blazing fast!

The new game has a new play calling interface, which people are already enjoying immensely. It also now has stats and leaders for defensive and special teams players.

PSF is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....batts.psf2015

and PSF Career is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tts.career2015 (it’s currently named “PSF Career” but I’m renaming it to “Pro Strategy Football Career” in tonight’s patch).

I'll post screenshots shortly, and I hope to create at least one video tomorrow, and then my focus is on getting the iOS version out asap!

Great, thanks! Let me know how it goes. You know I want a quality product, so I appreciate all feedback, and I can still miss bugs

I'll be curious how you like the new play calling, too. You can switch back and forth through settings to see which you prefer.

Congrats on the release - kudos

(and I've picked up both versions on GooglePlay because I know how hard you worked to get that completed )

PS - You're at 115 on the 'New Releases' chart with the career version!

Played through a casual game last night and the only thing that I would change would be to allow me to swipe through the stats screens instead of having to select from the menu every time. Otherwise, the whole thing totally took me back to all those times playing TLSF. It's a really good game. I'm going to try hardcore at some point once I get the feel a little better.

Thanks, guys! You know, people here have played such a huge role in this game. You told me what you wanted in Career Play, several of you encouraged me to write the Android version, and many of the features there now are from suggestions.

Loving the game so far! I like what you did with the new playcalling screen.

Is there any way to edit player's names, either within the game, or outside the game?

Not sure if this is the right place to report this, but I encountered a strange bug while coaching a game against the computer. I was playing with 5 minute quarters, and my opponent missed a FG as time expired at the end of the first quarter. The next thing I knew, my team was kicking off to begin the 2nd quarter. There was no score on the scoreboard.

Hi, JimboJ, thanks for the praise, question, and letting me know about the bug. I'll work on that bug this week while I'm trying to get the iOS version done, too. You gave enough information to really help me. I'm going to create a scenario where one team misses a FG as time expires in the first quarter and see if I can duplicate it. If so, then it'll be an easy fix. I'll see if the player has to be computer, too.

As for editing names, I'm looking into options there, and I'll let everyone know what I can come up with.

Thanks again!

Just downloaded this last night and am really enjoying it. One question though - when something almost happens during a play animation, is that telling me anything about ratings or matchups? For example, when my QB is almost sacked before getting away and throwing a pass, does that mean my line failed a blocking calc but my QB's "evade" calc saved him? Or is it just a random animation?

Great question! It usually means that a "pass rush" happened. Basically, I compute odds for various things - chance of outright completing the pass, or throwing an interception, of getting sacked, and of "check pass rush." If the "die roll" brings up that I need to check pass rush, then look at the strength of the pass rush in this case (essentially defensive pass rush plus blitzers minus offensive pass blocking and extra blockers). That creates a separate set of odds based on the QBs leadership, reading, and quickness and the primary receiver's reading and leadership.

If the pass rush favors defense, the QB has less time to find a secondary receiver, so if you double-teamed the primary receiver and also blitzed, and you get a pass rush, you greatly increase the chance of an incomplete pass, interception, or sack.

Now, having said all that, sometimes a defender can still break through without really putting pressure on the QB, so you might see the QB dodge a rusher, but not really pressure hi. I occasionally randomly add some small variety to the animation.

I hope that helps!

Just a clarification on editing. Right now, I haven't found a good way to implement text editing on Android. I used cocos2d-x 3.4, which has no real text editing. That means I'll have to write my own keyboard or something. I'll also see if newer versions of cocos2d-x fixed text editing.

If I can get that working, then I can put the Scenario editor into the Android version as well.

But this is why I can't promise that I'll get name editing in the game, only that I'm trying. I'll make every effort, and I'll let you all know if I can get something to work this year, but I also need to get the iOS version out, and I want to add the ability to shuffle your roster during a game.

Hey Kerry, one thing that is really small but that you'll want to fix is under the info section on the main menu it still says "Welcome to Pro Strategy Football 2013."

Thanks, Pilot! See if you have the latest version. I know I fixed that in one place, but I'll double check that section to be sure.

Thanks!

Small issue I had in a recent game. I drove down the field late in a game down by 2 and had the ball at my opponents 10, 1st and 10, 30 something seconds left. Clock stopped. I chose "run one final play but do not let the clock expire" --- But when we ran the ball, the clock expired. It would be cool if the play could be run so the clock didn't run out, or there could be an option to let the clock run down to a couple seconds and then call time out. I thought that is what would happen, but I was wrong.

Loving the game as usual. So glad it is out on Android now.

Small bugs I have noticed. Two point conversions will happen at the fifteen yard line. My players names will change from game to game. For instance, Fort on the Bears is sometimes Robb.

I suggested this last year, hopefully you can do it this year, for making achievements more noticeable. Perhaps when they are accomplished it could be the last line on the play by play. Otherwise, I forget to look for them.

Amazing game though. I have played 8 games in two days. Each game is different. Sometimes it is a blow out, sometimes its low scoring, sometimes its high scoring. Very entertaining.

I'm taking lunch, and I can get back on tonight. I'm not sure what you're saying. The way it's supposed to work is that the clock winds down to about four seconds and then either you run your play (the clock will expire) or you call timeout. Both options should be there, but probably could use rewording.

If you weren't able to get a play off, that's a bug. If you got the play off and then time expired, that's by design. I can reword it if you'd like. Let me know any suggestions on this, ok?

Also let me know if you weren't able to get the play off, because that would be a bad bug!

Dang it, I may know what's happening with the names. I'm now shuffling names, because one guy said that the fake names were too close to the real names. I'd better look at the logic, and maybe I can remove the shuffling and just change a few names.

The two point conversion is definitely a bug if that's happening, and I'll work on that asap. Try changing to FG and then back and see if that helps in the meantime.

Thankfully, I can push fixes much quicker on the Android version! This week, I'm focusing on trying to submit to Apple, and then I'll work on the issues you guys have raised, along with a few requests from users (like Pilot's idea)

Thanks LWSFS and Julio! You guys have been long fans, I'm glad you're enjoying the 2015 version!

Oh, and I agree about the achievements, that's on my list! I have a very long list, LOL! Well over 100 items on it, but I need to prioritize. Trying to get this stable and the iOS version out, and then my first major update would be the name editing if I can get it in there. That may be a pretty big task, we'll see (it'll be a free update).

LWSFS, are you getting two-point conversions always on the 15? I can't seem to duplicate it. If I'm lined up for a kick, I'm on the 15 (the new rule change in 2015), but if I change my play, I'm not. I've tried this with Casual and Hard Core. Let me know any details you can think of (casual or hard core, did you save and reload at the kick, against computer, etc). Oh, and was this in career play, exhibition, or single season?

I'm going to look into the names, too.

Julio, please read what I wrote up about the "go for last play" option and let me know what you think. Meanwhile, I'm going to test that some more now, too. I'll also look into rewording it.

PilotMan, I'm also going to check on adding the left and right arrows to all the stats and leaders screens (game, season team stats, season leaders, career rosters, career leaders).

Kerry I got called for an incidental facemask yesterday, the old 5 yd kind. Those were eliminated and they are all 15 now.

D'oh!! I didn't know that! Dang, I'll see if I can fix that in this patch.

BTW, I have your suggestion in the game now (the left and right arrows), and I agree, I like that much better - thanks!

I plan on posting the update sometime today, I'll let you know.
