FOF8 Drafting, Combine Correlation Settings, Constraints, Etc.

60/60 guy, 50 correlation, well below previous Sol constraint. VG staff for interviewing and scouting:

Overall at 60/60, it appears that the Constraints are *mostly* there. At the top of the class there are some guys who clearly look better than 60/60 even with strong scouts. Interviewed some of those and got a mix of mostly OR/VO, but a HTR and even an VU mixed in. Only 14 out of 1000 are coming in below 28. Checking 50/50.

28 out of 1000 at 50/50, so roughly 97% of 50/50 QBs are subject to the constraints at a 50 correlation. My quick-and-dirty first-pass thought is that if you want a truly constraints-free MP league, you'll want to go below 50. Checking 49 next...

So, 39 is no longer a magical constraint, it's simply more guys falling outside the constraints than at 40, 41,42, etc.?

Lots of caveats here, but that's my first semi-educated guess. That said, this is a draft file import. We don't know yet that an import file is reflective of game-generated drafts, and I'm only looking at one position group here. I want to play the game, and I can't just use my FOF7 import files. I'd have to run all of the csvs through the FOF8 draft file creator.

Heh. And even up at 90 they can fall below the constraints on an imported file. Sounds like the combine correlation is more intuitive now.

Per the offensive style help page:

This seems to discuss a separation between bars (which are skills) and physical attributes, maybe with some correlation. It seems to point to good combines helping performance beyond their ratings, and bad combines hurting. Unfortunately it mentions a separate help page discussing combines that I haven't found yet.

Heh. Just did some digging for that. It's missing. I'll add that to the bug/issues thread. Hopefully this thread can become unnecessary.

Ok for the relative newvies here, can you please explain this "constraints" topic?

And related question while here, is it still only 12 interviews available of draft eligible players ?

Malc's thread of legend for FOF2k7 teased out the fact that generated combines appeared to fall in certain buckets; i.e, *100%* of OTs with >7.81 agility had garbage pass blocking. Drafting in 2k7 was being able to understand those charts and memorize those numbers.

FOF7.2 eliminated this, but only if you moved combine accuracy slider down to 39 or below.

Given that this is a full new release, my preference would be for "50" to mean "the default game experience, without the 2k7 era constraints." If there is a magic number, I hope Jim will provide it.

This, though...

...is interesting.

Slightly OT but has anyone figured out yet a way to do the 50yr quick sim while retaining the as scouted pre-draft bars and combine info for each player? Looks like it doesn't save draft_personal.xls or rookies.xls by draft class.

That's part of exporting the personal scouting data, which you don't have the opportunity to do. You can only export at the end, and it gives you everything the league has at that point.
