How to - Stop the rollover windows

Okay, I am a programmer so this may bug me more than others.

Today is my first day looking at the new game (have all the other versions). And what is the first thing I notice? When I open a roster window and a player card I can't do anything without another window opening with every mouse move.

I know others have figured this out, but how on earth do I stop this so I can play this version? I can not do anything without my screen becoming a mash of splashes and worse, the menu rolls on top of it all.

I am on single monitor laptop right now, and if it can't be played this way I see a major disappointment.

Yes, this was my first move. That option is not there.

And I unchecked the box under "Commissioner" just to see what would happen. Nothing changes.

ON the choose/edit screen there's a box to uncheck.

And it is not checked. Maybe this is what is confusing. You would assume this would turn off this function. Unless there is another place this is selected.

Right. Checking it *restricts* pop-ups. "Restricting" them means keeping them from happening.

Are you on Windows 7? If so, check the FAQ.

I don't know the details, but some Windows 7 people are having problems. There's a thread here that mentions a workaround, and Jim added something to the FAQ about it when he released the patch.

Oh yeah, and a bit of luck will need to go our way.

But as of yet the game will not play on my Win7 machine. Or it is not playable with the overlaying windows. Nothing Jim has suggested works.

Just upgrade to Windows 10, it's still free.

That's odd though.. I'm guessing you checked your video drivers already?

Yes, all good there.
Going to Win10 would affect other programs that I do not want to mess with. May be out of luck with FOF8 for awhile.

I have Win10 just have to avoid that move for some time.

Well that's a bummer, sorry to hear you're having issues. Hopefully Jim finds the issue for you.

The game plays fine on another Win7 box but not on the other. Problem is it will not play on my laptop and I travel a lot. Cuts down on the rebuilding plan!

Is this issue still being worked on or are the work-a-rounds offered up the end?

The game is relatively unplayable if I have to minimize every time I click open a new window.

So you've tried messing around with enabling the aero themes on win7? That was the general solution for this win7 issue.

I don't mean to be a pedant, but you guys really should move off of Vista. That OS was a resource hog and Windows 7, 8 and 10 are way, way better.

I'm using a program to run windows on my mac. Found that Windows vista was really smooth and although im using Windows 10 now it's a bit laggy because my macbook is kind of old. Also the Vista interface makes me nostalgic haha

I tried all that, and nothing works. Not playable for me on my travel laptop, which is where I want it.

My main desktop works fine. Same OS, so who knows. Maybe there will be a fix sometime.
