I remember why this game is addicting...

Rediscovered this game after many years.....

My first year I made some great cuts which gave me a ton of cap room. Flush with money I signed big FA after big FA. Sure in a year or 3 I knew I was in trouble, but man I was loaded for bear. Look out league, just a question of can I get the breaks in the playoffs!

I went 5-11. Still can't figure that one out.

The next year I realized, d'oh, my stud QB's contract was up. I had little choice but to let him go, I was already in the red ....and had to cut another stud or 3 and eat the cap money. OK, I figured this was a lost year, I had a rook QB from last year with some upside and drafted another, figuring I might get lucky and one will pan out. Meanwhile I signed Cousins who is rated as a so-so veteran to hold the fort down so I'm not totally embarrassed every game. Only FA I signed was a modest upgrade at RB, which was weak-ish last year.

I went 12-4 and currently duking it out in the playoffs. Cousins tore it up.

This crazy game o football!

It's the thing nobody likes to talk about a lot with football, but it is true all the same: LUCK.

A 16 game sample size is a ridiculously small variance. The Broncos are playing almost identical to last year.

For all of the "you can run on them now" stories about the defense and horrible stories about the QB's, there just isn't a lot of difference.

Last year, points per game: 21.35. This year, 22.18. Last year, points against per game: 18.43. This year, 18.50.

Last year was a 12-4 record and the top seed in the AFC. This year could mean we don't make the playoffs. Last year they won OT games against the Browns, Bengals and Patriots. They beat the Ravens with an INT in the end zone with seconds left. They beat the Bears by stopping a two point conversion that would have sent the game into OT. They beat the Chiefs due to a fumble on a play that never should have been run.

it's why sustained greatness like the Patriots should be admired. (even if I hate them with the passion of 10,000 burning suns)

I though the game was addicting because you keep telling yourself just one more season and it never stops.

Kind of like Civ.

? You seem to be talking about the actual NFL. I was talking about FOF.
