When a player retires do they get paid out the rest of the bonus?

I have always wondered this myself. For cashflow purposes it was already paid but I am not sure about the cap hit.

The Bonus technically gets paid at the beginning of the contract. However, they get to keep it and it will hit your cap. It's a bit annoying when your franchise qb retires and hits you really bad with all his bonus.
To check, sim the Patriots for a season or two and you'll notice Brady retiring after one or two seasons. He will hit the cap really bad. |

The cap hit of any remaining bonus is compressed into the season following the retirement.

I think this is a great as avoid exploits from users, offering multi-year millions bucks contracts to Star veteran players in their last wheels.
