FOFC Cup week 2

The first match of the week is now going on in rainy London. The Lancre Wowhawks have seized a 3-0 lead over the First Coast Conquistadors.

DOLA:

Well I had a decent amount of Possession Time, problem was none of that TOP actually turned into decent scoring opportunities.. Not one good look all Match..

Oh well, the First Coast is improving, ever so slowly... another 39 Point Rating today, not bad... Look out come Season 32..

Good Work Katon!!

Good job yourself. That's the best my midfield trainees have ever played and your reserves matched them blow for blow.

Group F update : Manhattan Marauders @ Alf Trickers.

Marauders take their 2nd trip to France in as many weeks.

As the 1st half draws to an end, things are looking grim for the team out of the US. The trickers have opened the score in the 16th minute. They've also had 3 other scoring opportunites but did not come thru.

With 40 minutes gone, Alf leads 1-0.

I expected to lose 3-1 and I did, woohoo for psychic powers! Good thing I didn't wake up early to watch my ouster from the Cup. At least no one got hurt, although I wonder if I'd been able to get a tie if I'd played my starting goalie. Congrats Alf, good luck with advancing to the knockout portion of things. Thank goodness those damn trips to France are over

Only Luis Manjon (the first scorer) is a starter. Otherwise, it's my whole B-team... I don't plan on sacrifying formation for FOFC Cup glory (at least yet )

I don't think Winking Pirate and ___ (I don't remember) got their game booked.

Anyways...curious to see how my game goes...I'm playing the West Fargo Stangs, and I know he got burned against starters last week. Leaves me curious as to whether or not I'm going to face his starters in reaction Anyhow, good luck to everyone!

The match is in progress, 29 minutes of the first half have been played.

Man, what a shot by Quentin Courtois! Firing from 35 yards he didn't give the enemy goalie a chance and it was 0 - 1. Stéphane Jubert of Fantastic got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game.

oooh... that dirty Stephane Jubert. He was carded earlier for unsportsmanlike behavior. Being up a man this early could really turn the tide!

halftime

Carl Harp, limping from a previous injury, scored the tying goal in the 36th minute. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 1. Plainfield held the ball, with a clear 63 percent possession rate.

Another note on the 'Pegs v. Ice Storm game:

All goals were scored in the first 5 minutes of play, only a Ice Storm booking since then has occured. Ice Storm also controlled possesion at a rate of 71%.

Does anyone else get the feeling this round of the FOFC Cup is kind of lacking excitement? I wasn't here for the first two, so does it get more interesting as far as trash talk, or is this a laid back kind of tournament?

This is my first, but I would imagine things heat up considerably after the group phase. (I don't think there even was a group phase last year).

quick action in my game too, all in the 78th-83rd minutes:

The 78:th minute saw the home team take a 2 - 1 lead after a leak in the visitors right side defense. Scorer for Plainfield was Gerard Matthews. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Plainfield lead up with 3 - 1. Carl Harp finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle.

The North Plainfield Plague move to 2-0 in group F, and move into first Place on goal differential (3 versus the Screamin' Seamen's 2). My hope to escape the group phase continues!

1-1 tie against Eugene that we should have won. One of my strikers got 4 scoring chances, and only converted one of them.

Ah well, we lucked into 3 points last week when we *might* have deserved one, so this just gets us even. We're still tied for 2nd in the group.

This is a huge win for my team. With two near-certain losses in my future (Alf Trickers, Screamin' Seamen), my best hope is 9 points and a prayer for a 3rd place advance, or to pull a miraculous tie against the Trickers, who lost last week. Maybe I could escape with a 10 point second place finish.

Airhog: I know, I would've liked to help you by blowing out the top team of our bracket in the pre-tourney rankings, while helping my own team as well. Unfortionately we both come out with a point and I stay in 3rd place.

Oh well, I suppose I'll have to see what I can do against your boys when we meet up in the last week. You've had your walkover victory now though (as have I), so things could turn out that we end up playing for who moves on to elmination. Though I'm totally fucked in PilotMan decides to roll over against you this week and play his reserves if he doesn't think there's much of a chance of him moving on with only 1 point after two weeks.

Its a real possibilty that he will play his starters again. He plays a really weak team this last week and this week in the league games, but he may have a tougher opponent next match. You are right though, if I dont win this match, I might be able to win against HH. I think 1 more win will guarantee me a spot in the elimination round

Well the Cyclones got beat pretty bad again in the FOFC Cup, this time 4-0 to The Afoci and his Fighting Crawfish. I have yet to score a goal in Cup action the 5-4-1, and a very very crapp B-team midfield are really hurting my chances at going further in the cup.

Wow, this is a tough crowd, two weeks in a row now the team I played complaining that they should have beat me. Once again, my low inad training forward knocks in a goal.

Seriously tho, we did just scrape by. I recently purchased two new middie trainees and my midfield showed it, putting up the always exciting wretched rating. You did outplay me today, Frankfort, but maybe that was punishment for only bringing in 343 spectators
