Week 19.09 - Eight tales from the top
ROB'S GAMES of the WEEK - 19.09
An extra helping this week, as there are 8 fixtures with 1 v. 2 in their division. If, being lower in the table, you feel you have been discriminated against, send a hattrick mail to whineydumbass FC. D-V.28 High Tops (8146) v. Stormy Gales
The High Tops are looking to climb back to the top of the table this week. They have their work cut out for them, as they lost to the Gales 8-1 3 weeks ago on the road. In that match, the Gales completely outclassed their opposition, posting a 72 to 49 NSI with 69% of the possession. No doubt the Tops will be going all out this week, and if lightning does strike, it’ll be a goal difference race to the finish. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-V.62 Houston Hippopotami (8574) v. CC’s Dragons
Same shit, different division. The Hippos are looking to avenge a 3-nil defeat from 3 weeks ago. The Dragon’s were up 64 to 58 on the NSI with 53% possession. Obviously, those numbers are close enough for the Hopeful Hungry Hippos to strike dread and despair in the Dragons. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-V.97 The Schwing v. Cedar Pond Horned Toads (70953)
The Toads are looking to stay perfect and slam the door on their division this weekend. At home three weeks ago, they beat The Schwing 5-2, with a 57 to 54 NSI advantage and 66% possession. Most of the Toads advantage come from their defense and midfield, they have only inad/poor/inad attack ratings. If The Schwing apply the hammer at home, this could be exciting. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-V.122 G-Vegas FC (71158) v. rabbits
When the first match of this series was played 3 weeks ago, the G men held a 3 point lead in the division. After losing 3-1, they were locked in a tie at the top, which has persisted until this weeks return bout at home. Vegas had the run of play, 48-44 NSI with Vegas holding 50.5% possession, but failing in the second half. Vegas has punched up their team spirit the last two weeks, flirting dangerously with team 2452, who they beat 2-1, but put up a wretched midfield. The risk will have paid off if the can trample the bunnies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-V.167 White Sox Pride (71519) v. LA ScullKickers
Three weeks ago, the Pride held LA to a draw on the road, 2-2. Now at home, a victory will give them an ever so slim 1 point lead at the top. They need to make up a few NSI points, as they lost the last battle 57 to 51, holding only 38% possession. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-V.222 Louisiana Tigershark v. Gasmasters (71955)
The Gasmasters only blemish came three weeks ago at home to the Tigershark. After scoring the first two goals, the Tigershark answered with three of their own, all in the first half. The Gasmasters had a man advantage for the final 35 minutes, but were unable to equalize. They still hold a 2 point advantage at the top of the table, but they need to solve Louisiana if they want to hold on to it. There isn’t much between these two teams, the Gasmasters held a 48 to 47 NSI advantage with 46% of the possession. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-V.251 Eugene Emeralds (8315) v. SonyEricsson United
The Emeralds draw with fellow FOFC side Else United is the only blemish on their other perfect record. Three weeks ago, on the road against Ericcson, the Emeralds scored 3 quick goals in the first half. Ericsson fought back with 2 goals, but fell short in the end. The Emeralds put up a 45 to 40 NSI advantage, but held only 36.5% of the possession. Holding the home field should be enough to keep them on top, but it will be a nervous affair. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D-V.253 Maniacal Misfitz (72203) v. Green Mages
This week’s bonus cut. The Mages took the Misfitz on a ride three weeks ago, beating them 4-1 at home. The Mages had a 56 to 46 NSI advantage with 52.5% possession. We expect great things from the Misfitz, after all, we did squeeze them in this week. How am I suppose to watch my goldurnears with all of these other matches? LETS GO FOFC, we need to get all these teams into D IV damnit, where the fun is. WOOT WOOT WOOT! Last edited by robbgmaier : 05-26-2003 at 05:13 PM. |

Spring Grove takes on a struggling Black Reign team who had been the preseason favorite to win the division. He lost two straight games to move him into 4th place. I'm suspecting that he PIC'ed them to MOTS me. And without my star central defender, I'm not sure if we'll be able to meet the challenege.

High Tops vs Stormy Gales
Since the first time was a blow out, not expecting to sneak up on him. I expect him to MOTS me again, since I have the only chance to catch him this season. I have upgraded to a solid keeper from my 17yr old solid youth pull sale to ML Slashers last week ( train and sell please). With a MOTS and a formation change, maybe I can catch a little magic and pull out a win.

This time we have homefield and I'll be MotS'ing. If that doesn't get me a win, nothing will. SI

I think he MOTSd me that game, so I plan to MOTS him this week. However, if my starting central defender doesnt get healed quick, I may be in some trouble.

Good choice of games! Awesome work as usual, robb.
![]() I think there have been ringers playing for the Toads. Have you seen them lately? They've actually been . . . . scoring goals. You just KNOW that can't really happen with the 4-5-1. I sense a conspiracy here! ![]() |

That was by far the most frustrating game I've played. Our now ex-coach deciding to pull back when up 2-0 early in the game? And not being able to score for 35 minutes when up by a man? While MOTSing? Huh? If I were a cat I'd cough up a hairball at that kind of performance. In fact, I might do that anyway. Edited for freshness. Last edited by Fonzie : 05-27-2003 at 01:00 AM. |

Shhhhhhhh don't jinx it. Against my usual credo, I have PIC'd the last two games. I plan on MOTSing this week. If he plays a 3-4-3 again I hope I escape with a win or draw. The two goals he scored in our last affair were after I lost someone to a red card. If my midfield holds the ball and we can chip in some goals somehow I'll be the happiest amphibian on earth this Sunday. Defense!

Hey, don't forget the 2000 FLUSHES/TED'S OF BEVERLY HILLS STEAKHOUSE TOILET BOWL II is coming up this Sunday..
Code:
Since that time though the Fairies have come under new ownership and just this past Sunday recorded their first victory of the season, a 4-2 stunner at home over the 5th Place LA Lazers.. My squad on the other hand is coming off back to back a$$ whoopins' at the hands of the Division V.114 leading and undefeated Nagle's Noles, being outscored by a combined score of 11-0 in the two matches.. It should be an interesting one in Ponte Vedra Beach on Sunday, with the biggest question coming into this one being, will anyone actually show up to watch?

D-V.122 G-Vegas FC (71158) v. rabbits 1. G-Vegas FC 8 29 - 5 19 2. The risk will have paid off if the can trample the bunnies. i'm MOTS'ing this game, so I better win. I trained stamina prior to the season, but my team always plays worse in the 2nd half. Should I train it this week just to be sure, taking the slight form hit, or just stick to my regular training, or train form, taking the stamina hit? Well, there is an interesting one brewing in my Series between me and the team above
5. The Silent Strike 8 14 - 25 9 6. Provo United 8 12 - 22 7 If I win by 3 goals, it puts me up ahead of the Strike, and knocks them down, it also has the others above scared as I am knocking on the door with 2 league wins in a row (Granted the team was a walkover) and 1 Friendly win. I scored against these guys in our first match but they beat me 1 - 3 I am looking to move up and challange for promotion, however, the top team in my series is like the 7th ranked overall I think in the V division. Good Luck to all! Dennis Thomas Provo United
