Smile I think I got a steal...

I just bought this young fellow on the Sverige market, to be part of my playmaking trainee program...

Code:
Anders Gott (12173768) 17 years, passable form, healthy A controversial person who is temperamental and dishonest. Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities. Speciality: Powerful Nationality: Sverige Assessed value: 64 000 C$ Wage: 1 536 C$/week including 20% Bonus Owner: Pintendre Pittbulls Warnings: 0 Stamina: weak Goaltending: disastrous Playmaking: passable Passing: poor Winger: poor Defending: wretched Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: inadequate

You know what? I only paid 32 000 C$ for him (16k U$)!!! I know his secondary skills are not very good, but still, I think this was a steal. He was pulled on May 25 and has never played a game, so he might closer to solid than you'd think...

The funniest though was that after I bid what would end up being the winning bid, it was 17:26, HT time and the bidding clock was extended to read a deadline of 17:30. The original deadline was 17:28 and had just been extended to 17:29 because of a last minute bid. I was kind of pissed about the extra minute, but thought "what the heck". Look at the attached pic, the bidding was apparently declared finished at 17:29, even though the player screen still says 17:30... I'm guessing the other dude might have been pissed about it

I kinda like the Sverige market, there's a lot of things in there, and sometimes one will fall through the cracks... You need to have discipline and not go overboard on a bidfight...

i would think his personality had something to do with him falling through the cracks. He's the ultimate team cancer.

I tried to bid on him. At the time I had bids in on two passable keepers at 55K each and I didn't have the money to bid on him at the same time.

Congratz on him in any case.

Nah- he's only poor leadership so he won't kill team spirit, tho it may show up in other areas. I have lots of guys with controversial.

SI, I see it the same way you do. I just checked the HT rulesbook and it says that leadership and agreeability are only applied to the player with the highest leadership factor...

I thought that with a "poor" leadership I was kind of safe... Let's only hope...

Ya, staying under the superstar radar in Sweden can net you some good buys. Good show, Frogger. We expect him at solid by season's end, y'hear.

Oh, yeah . . . the one place where buying a controversial with no leadership like that would hurt would be with the effect to Team Spirit. Those fellas have a decent chance of starting out badly. The message "A newly bought player got a really bad start when he arrived in the club. The team spirit fell when he initially turned out not to get along very well with the other ones" has been come way too familiar to me. Buying a couple of those kicked my Team Spirit down to Irrirated. If you can live with that though, you're okies.

daed, I would expect no less of him, but you see, I gave him his first start tonight, against the Fighting Crawfish with laser blasters instead of claws no less. Would you believe it, I had him fitted with a titanium reinforced sack protector and the dirty Crawfish hit him in the shin...

Pintendre´s Anders Gott left the field after 10 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin.

I'm awaiting the words from the physios and doctors as to how long he will miss. Hoping it won't be a dreaded 7 weeks. That would really put a dent in any hope of seeing him hit solid before season's end...

About the dreaded team spirit drop message, I think I've had it more often with pleasant guys than with controversial, as crazy as it may sound... I'm still lucky enough that I can PIC all league game, so it's still not an issue this season...

DK's analysis on length of time to recover might be handy.

How weird. Looking at the team events, dating back to the beginning of May, 6 of my buys have had poor starts with the club. Of the 6, 5 are Controversial and the other was Nasty (that's Ms Jackson to him). You're either lucky or unlucky . . . I can't tell yet. Heh.

turns out he's injured for 3 weeks. I'll go and add 3 doctors to my regular doc on staff, will see starting with tomorrow morning's update how much value he will have lost and by Saturday, I'll have an idea of when he could be back... I got plenty of other 17yo, but only one other passable playmaker, the others are inadequate...

hey, I got enough trouble with temperamental, dishonest 17 year olds, I don't need yours too

I had only one (and only inadequate, although very close to pop)about two or three weeks ago, I went into a shopping frenzy and I now have five 17 y.o. in my midfield, two of them already passable playmakers. The future is bright. I got a passable rating in midfield tonight with a global 50 ratings, my first 50 EVER!!! That is with all my starters except one defender. Would probably have increased a defense rating another point or two with him...

Now you all know why my team is ranked 97th in the FOFC rankings, my starters play on wednesday, at least for now...

Heh.

You know . . . next season, all your players are going to get confused as to which days they're suppose to "show up".

Mucho congratsies on the 50, though. Passable midfield is yummy.

I never thought about that. I'll try and have GM_Apoc vote for a change of day for league games in Canada

This season is kinda weird for me to evaluate if I'm doing everything that's right to survive in D4 next season. I'm winning all my league games while PICing my B squad, with all shutouts and possession rates around 85% in 1st half and 95% in second half... That 50 kind of tells me I'm on the right track...

HT teams grow up so fast... *sniff*

Before I saw the date stamp, I was thinking that FM was losing it and wondering why a winger trainer would want a pm trainee.

Sorry, FM! (need a warning next time, vex! )

don't be sorry, I looked at fff's player, a 23yo with a few inadequates here and there and a passable winger skill and I thought "darn, what a crappy player!!!"

Now, I even look back at the guy listed in my first post, then take a second look at the new trainee I'm looking at and I go "phew, how times have changed!"

I'll post about that player in this very thread if I win the bidding later on today, you'll see...

i paid 15k (I received 2,002,000) for the privelege of training him from excellent to outstanding PM and wing attack rating.

How depressing:

4/20/2006 CC FC Cerio's Dragons 2 200 000 US$ 13 720
9/6/2005 Elbkicker United CC FC 2 017 000 US$ 5 690
