How's this keeper...
I've been told that since I'm not competing this season, and probably next for my Division Title... I could live with a high Inadequate goalie at age 24-27... Daedalus(sp?), said one wiht passable form around 100,000+ value would do... and I could get one for 10,000-15,000 $. First is this a good Idea, and second hows this guy look?
Paul Barrera (5512595) 24 years, passable form, healthy A pleasant guy who is calm and honest. Has wretched experience and poor leadership abilities. Speciality: Unpredictable Nationality: USA Assessed value: 92 000 US$ Wage: 1 260 US$/week including 20% Bonus Owner: FC Dylan Warnings: 0 Stamina: excellent Goaltending: inadequate Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous Winger: disastrous Defending: wretched Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: weak |

I'm not sure I'd like having an "unpredictable" goalie... Other than that, he would be fine for your team. Look at my current keeper:
Ou Yang Yin-Hao (11693006) 18 years, solid form, healthy A pleasant guy who is balanced and honest. Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities. Nationality: Canada Assessed value: 182 000 C$ (that is 91k US$) Wage: 1 840 C$/week Owner: Pintendre Pittbulls Warnings: 0 Stamina: poor Goaltending: inadequate Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous Winger: wretched Defending: disastrous Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: disastrous Not even worth 100k but he's giving me 2 stars every game he plays... Best of all, he was a youth pull... I'm waiting to pull a better one to make him my new starting keeper ![]() FM

I have to agree that an unpredictable would not be a good choice and the second is a drain on team spirit.

I notice that you are looking at a lot of international players. One thing to keep in mind is that 20% pay increase they are going to take when they come to the US and play. Inadequate keepers should be able to be found in plenty in the US and that can help keep your wages down.

If you can wait on more week, I am sure there will be many inad youth pulls after tomarrow night. The only thing is the auctions won't end until after the next league match. O/w you're doin' fine.

Doesn't matter -- lots of vets hit the wire too after youth pulls because they've been replaced on the team.

I remember playing this one guy who had an unpredictable keeper. One game he allowed one goal on maybe 6 chances. The next game he allowed 7 goals on 7 chances.

Are you talking about that poor form one? if so, then I disagree. I always see a drop of two form level equals a drop of one main level for a given player. Read it somewhere around here, maybe from DataKing. Assuming that, that player who is three level below passable in form would be like a worst than weak keeper (inadequate minus 1.5 levels = middle between poor and weak)... All that to say that an inadequate in passable form is nice, but I( wouldn't go below that kind of form... FM

If he is getting him for the long haul and has given up on this season (which he pretty much admitted to at the start of this thread) current form shouldn't matter too much, it is fairly easy to fix.

Yeah, but not all players will gain form, even with general training. I'm wary of players with bad form on the transfer markets. Some of them are incurable... FM

Well, it's usually what I do. I've been wrong before, but I tell myself, why buy a player that will play a level or two below his abilities because of poor form. That holds true, uness the price is very good. Say you can get a inadequate keeper with the value you are looking for, but for about half the price you expect to pay, then you could gamble that his form could go up over the long term. Even though you said you didn't want a youth pull, Monday and Tuesday are very good days to shop around, especially in bigger markets. Sometimes, there are so many players that almost identical that you can find some affordable players that fits exactly what you are looking for. Good luck. FM

You can sometimes tell if they have a form problem by looking at their history, and I did say depending on price. I've gotten some good deals on players who lose form from riding the bench.

that is also true and I've tried that trick a few times, where I see a player in bad form going for cheap and when you look at his last match, you see a match that happened about a month ago...

As has been said, Tuesday is an awesome day to shop. Using an example in this thread . . . when Frogger pulls his solid keeper, he's likely to put his current keeper (above) up for sale. Unpredictable would be the one specialty I'd be leery with for a keeper.

You may also want to wait and see if you can pull a high inadequate this week in your youth pull.
