NFL Draft trade value chart

In the Sporting News a few weeks back, they printed the 1st round value chart for the NFL draft that the teams use. They had a few clues about a couple picks in the second round. I filled in the rest using deductive reasoning. I might try to use it in my FOF4 league. Just for fun, here it is:

Code:
ROUND 1 Pick Point value 1 3000 2 2600 3 2200 4 1800 5 1700 6 1600 7 1500 8 1400 9 1350 10 1300 11 1250 12 1200 13 1150 14 1100 15 1050 16 1000 17 950 18 900 19 875 20 850 21 800 22 780 23 760 24 740 25 720 26 700 27 680 28 660 29 640 30 620 31 600 32 590 ROUND 2 Pick Point value 33 465 34 460 35 455 36 450 37 445 38 440 39 435 40 430 41 425 42 420 43 415 44 410 45 405 46 400 47 395 48 390 49 385 50 380 51 375 52 370 53 365 54 360 55 355 56 350 57 345 58 340 59 335 60 330 61 325 62 320 63 315 64 310 ROUND 3 Pick Point value 65 285 66 282 67 279 68 276 69 273 70 270 71 267 72 264 73 261 74 258 75 255 76 252 77 249 78 246 79 243 80 240 81 237 82 234 83 231 84 228 85 225 86 222 87 219 88 216 89 213 90 210 91 207 92 204 93 201 94 198 95 195 96 192 ROUND 4 Pick Point value 97 187 98 185 99 183 100 181 101 179 102 177 103 175 104 173 105 171 106 169 107 167 108 165 109 163 110 161 111 159 112 157 113 155 114 153 115 151 116 149 117 147 118 145 119 143 120 141 121 139 122 137 123 135 124 133 125 131 126 129 127 127 128 125 ROUND 5 Pick Point value 129 120 130 119 131 118 132 117 133 116 134 115 135 114 136 113 137 112 138 111 139 110 140 109 141 108 142 107 143 106 144 105 145 104 146 103 147 102 148 101 149 100 150 99 151 98 152 97 153 96 154 95 155 94 156 93 157 92 158 91 159 90 160 89 ROUND 6 Pick Point Value 161 85 162 84 163 83 164 82 165 81 166 80 167 79 168 78 169 77 170 76 171 75 172 74 173 73 174 72 175 71 176 70 177 69 178 68 179 67 180 66 181 65 182 64 183 63 184 62 185 61 186 60 187 59 188 58 189 57 190 56 191 55 192 54 ROUND 7 Pick Point Value 193 50 194 49 195 48 196 47 197 46 198 45 199 44 200 43 201 42 202 41 203 40 204 39 205 38 206 37 207 36 208 35 209 34 210 33 211 32 212 31 213 30 214 29 215 28 216 27 217 26 218 25 219 24 220 23 221 22 222 21 223 20 224 19

So how does it work? If you take any two sets of pick combinations, the set with the higher cumulative value is the "better valued" set in the system?

For example, the first pick is worth 3000 points. If I wanted to deal for the pick and the GM holding the top pick was an ardent supporter of this system, I would likely need to offer up a combination of picks that equals or exceeds 3000? Like the 5th pick and the 10th pick, for instance?

Actually, unless there is a guaranteed #1 stud available, I'm not sure I would deal two Top 10 picks for the #1 overall, especially if I was the kind of team that got at least one of those picks by being just awful on the field (as is likely).

It's a numbers game. Just add the values of the picks you trade for the ones you get. I know the 1st round is what they use in the NFL. They put it in the Sporting News. I also know that pick 54 is right. They said that Arizona traded picks 6,37 and 102 to the Saints for picks 17, 18 and 54 worth 2210 points. 17 and 18 are worth 1850 so that leaves 360 points for pick 54. They gave up 2222 points in return. So it was a close deal.

Looks pretty good to me and there's no way you can make it perfect. Plus, it's tough to value those top couple of picks each year. And the draft, in general, is a crapshoot- this year there were 6 big players so the top 6 would be much higher valued and you can't account for those kind of yearly changes.

No way the AI lets you trade just the #5 and #10 picks for #1 overall. You need to offer at least 3 first round picks.
