same as in real life but instead of buying stocks (on the stock market) you buy players for cheap and sell them back for a profit. It can be quite time consuming but can reap great earnings...

Do you sell them after you "pop" them.... O rjust in a market where they'll get more attention?

This happens when you buy a player you are fairly certain will pop very soon, then train him for a week or two, then sell him back at his new level... Easier to be done with keepers since they only have one skill to look for and their "pop price" is fairly standard... FM
