Sell my top young player?
Okay, you all were very helpful in my last "question" thread - so here's another.
Overall, it's my opinion that young players are overvalued in Hattrick - that it makes sense to sell guys who are young and show potential while you can, because the current money is worth more than having the player on the club, developing. That said, I'm challenged by one of my better young players - who has just "popped" to excellent in playmaking, and probably would fetch a pretty tidy sum on the transfer wire. Here is Stew Emery: - - - Stew Emery 150 000 US$, 19 years, solid form Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous Playmaking: excellent Passing: wretched Winger: inadequate Defending: wretched Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: weak - - - If I sold him and did nothing with the receipts, I still would have three player rated "solid" in playmaking to handle my midfield - but practiucally speaking, I'd probably use the receipts to replace him with a more well-rounded but older player for my interior. I'm guessing that Emery would fetch $400-500K in the open market, just based on a few players I saw sell recently (though I confess I know fairly little about the markets for better players). Any thoughts here? Shoudl I hold on to Emery, who is doing just fine with our club (which itself is doing just fine)? Or should I try to ship him out while he's young and as reached a new skill level? |

have you ever tried to play your three solid all by themselves in one game, to see what kind of midfield rating they would fetch for you? I looked at your team and you are getting a passable midfield right, which is pretty good. You seem in a good spot to promote and before next season, your three solid might have a chance to get close to excellent...
All in all, you look like you have some depth and I would say go for it, but price him at a high price, a price where if somebody bids on it, then you are all set cause you got good money, and if nobody bids on him, then you still got a good player to help out your team... Good luck! FM

One thing again holding a type of player like this is his wretched passing. However, some people might look at the excellent stamina and say that it makes up for the wretched passing.

I have, up to just now, had four players rated "solid" in playmaking. Generally, I have rotated the three into the midfield, with one guy fairly frequently playing as a forward. That's the rotation of guys that has gotten me a "passable" with my infield most often. And with this rotation, my side has managed to do very well in a pretty weak D V league - I appear to be cruising toward autopromotion. |

If you are ok financially at the moment I would keep him until the beginning of next season for two reasons.
1) The market is better at the beginning of the season then it is right now. 2) It looks as though he could be up to or close to formidable by that time. My guess is you will be able to get double what you are expecting by waiting. Of course I dont have any experience with players of that talent so this is just a rough guestimate... |
