Spike Ball called and QB throws an interception?

I'm guessing this is a bug and that I'm in the wrong place but I just had my quarterback throw a pick after marching down the field before half. Got within field goal range, had no timeouts left so I used the "spike ball " play call and my idiot of a quarterback decided to play hero ball and throw a "intermediate" pass to my X.

Seems like a bug, but maybe not. Anyone else seen this?
