This was already a big match, but it got bigger when 3rd place Real Celtic held sony to a 1-1 draw last week, giving them their first ding on the season. In the first matchup this season, sony beat the Spikes 4-1 on their home turf. The Spikes held a 49/44 NSI advantage, but had a wretched midfield to the sony's weak. However, the Spikes' midfield seems to have improved, as they posted a weak themselves last week. Add in the home field advantage, and I look for a change at the top this week.

This one galls me a little, as the Assassinholes..er..I mean.. the Assassins, smoked my goldurnears 6-2 in the FOFC cup last week. Of course, I'm too much of a professional to let that affect me (go RAGE :) ). THE RAGE are a bit unusual. The former owners beat the Assassins back in week 5, and two weeks later were reborn. They lost their first game, but surprisingly, have won their last two to stay at the top of the table. Their 38 NSI doesn¡¦t compare favorably with the 44 that Concord put up last week, or the 51 that they put up against my goldurnears (I beat their damn midfield though). It looks Concord can start to contemplate the goal difference race for autopromotion, assuming that 39 will be the bubble number.

There are no delusions of autopromotion in V.222, but this is still one interesting division. The Gasmasters seem to have everyone solved except for the Louisiana Tigersharks, who have beaten them twice by one goal. Still, Louisiana has surrended a draw and a loss to the rest of their competition, so they haven't got things locked up just yet. The Gasmasters were on the road for the first match of this series, and spanked Rizzo's 5-0. They led the NSI 54/50, with a weak to Rizzo¡¦s passable midfield. We would guess that the Gasmasters will dust themselves off and stay close to Louisiana for at least one more week.

The Bearcats are trying to stave off the drop to D-VI. They're running out of games, and they play one of the two teams that they can reasonably expect to reel in. In the Bearcats second ever game, a 3-0 loss at the Massive, they managed only a 32 NSI to Massive's 36. Since then, they've inmproved to a 43 NSI, losing 1-0 at home the 3rd place Galloping Sloths, while Massive put up 44 last week. We wish the Bearcats luck, because there is no love in D-V.

FC Hartford have the upper hand in a tight battle to avoid the second relegation slot. They can all but make themselves safe with a result in this week's match, while a loss will keep them all in the mixer another week. Hartford one the home leg of the series 3-1, with a 44/32 NSI advantage. Should/Will Hartford throw a little bit extra at this one? I wouldn't want to have to explain to the chairman on Monday why I was only 1 point clear of the relegation line instead of 7.

We take a rare excursion into the stratosphere with the Penguins. I don't know if a qualification match would worry TP or not, but he can put quite a massive dent in those fears with a win this week. Oh, and by the way, they could still make a run at the division title as well. Kiasu took the Penguins to school in round 1, handing them a 4-1 defeat. I think the NSI difference was 100/98, but I don't know how to add that high, and I don't know if world class is 13 or magnificent is 12..

Minutemen v. Shaolin Landfills (8076)

Upward and onward, we take a look at our (current) MLS member. The good news for the Landfills is that they have made the quarterfinals of the US Open Cup. The bad news is that they might make history by being the first team to win the cup and be demoted in the same season. (I have no idea if that is true or not, but it sure sounds dramatic.) There are two teams that Shaolin could still catch if they have a mind to stave off the drop, and they go on the road to face one of them this weekend. The Landfills lost a 2-1 decision at home to the Minutemen in the first game, but put up a utopian midfield. Now, I'm not going to pretend to know what all these ratings mean, but that one is 19 isn't it, right above titanic and below divine? I think they had a 123 NSI in that encounter, compared to 104 for the Minute Men. Don't hold me to it. It's possible that they are going all out for the cup run, and might not put everything they have into what may be an untenable bid to stay in MLS, but I'll wish them luck anyway.

Yep, $450,000 in new players in one week.

I really have no idea how this game will go. Before Sony's latest purchases, I would have won easily. With all the changes, it is very difficult to predict how each team will do.

I am mostly concerned about the two midfielders who are both in solid form. I wouldn't be suprised if sony pulled an inadequate midfield.

Barring a huge upset later in the season, the winner of this game will win the division.

This team was owned by a cheater who was kicked out the week before our 1st match, which I lost despite a 50-46 NSI advantage and a 2-0 lead with 17 minutes to go. It looks like he'll toss up a 38 this week, but I want to ensure I have the Goal Differential edge on him and will be going A-Team on normal, which should result in about a 55 with my midfield in good form now. I'm going to try not to auto-promote, and make sure I don't end up going into a division like DataKing's.

This match came after a long week of transactions on the transfer wire, and result looked huge for sony deep into the second half, as they held a 3-1 lead. Complex seemed to become invigorated, pounding the back of the net twice, and nearly scoring the game winner all in the last 15 minutes of the match. Complex’s 56 to 44 NSI advantage is not something that will provide much solace, but at least the draw keeps them in contention, should sony slip in the home stretch. With the second draw for sony, the winner will have to find their way to D-IV through the qualification route.

The Gasmasters recovered from last week’s loss to Louisiana to stay a single point back in their division race. The 54/40 NSI difference was too much for Rizzo’s to combat. The #3 and #4 teams play next week, with the top two playing push overs. Louisiana plays both of those two teams the last two weeks of the season, so there is still hope for the Gasmasters.

Only my professionalism prevents me from calling a gigantic bullshit on this one. The Bearcats managed a 45 to 41 NSI edge, but couldn’t seem to put the ball in the net. They scored the first goal, but Westside answered with two of there own. The Bearcats had 4 scoring chances after that, but none of them connected. The loss puts them deeper in the glue, but they still have life, as the Titans lost 1-0 as well. The Bearcats face the HONEYBEARS next week, while the Titans play the #1 team, so there is still hope in the hearts of the Bearcats faithful.

Hartford got the job done this week, securing the three points, and pulling 7 points clear of auto relegation. They managed a 38 to 29 NSI advantage, and if Real are going to put up 29 NSI’s, I think we can book them for D-VI next season.

The planets all came into alignment this week, as 80,000 screaming crazy people invaded the god awfully named Mr. T Stadium, watched their beloved Penguins waddle all over Kiasu, and then watch the stadium jumbotron as Arabia fell to CrazyCoCo and the Titans managed only a draw. I won’t keep you in suspense as to the first of next week’s games of the week, as we have a clash between Arabia and the Penguins. In today’s match, the Penguins totally outclassed their opposition with an NSI difference of 99/78, world class (13?) to solid in the midfield. Keep it up TP, go get those Arabia punks.

The Landfills posted a big big BIG 1-0 win on the road today, pulling them within 1 point of each of their relegation competitors. This appears to have been an incredible upset, as my math says the NSI battle was 122 to 97 for the Minutemen. Ouch! Tough shit, heh. Now, on to the quarterfinal cup match and yet more glory.

This was a good week for the FOFC GotW competitors, in the six matches with only one FOFC player, we were 5-0-1. My goldurnears put up a 5-0 victory, and are ready to go after the Bastards in the FOFC cup this week. Tune in next week, for this week, in hattrick.

I've been gone Saturday and for the most part today. I haven't even checked the Match Report and I am eagered to.

Friday, I bidded on a WING BACK which I needed desperately (2.5 *). I lost out on the bidding war due to an internet disconnection :(. I didn't even do my youth pull for a goalie before the game either.

So I don't know if that would have held off the 3 goals the Spikes put up.

3-3 draw was something I did not expect but I will take it none the less.
