What about an online tennis game in the mold of hattrick and WeBL?
I think it could work. You would create a "stable" of tennis players, all start off at the bottom and then work your way up. But instead of facing random opponents, you'd have to join tournments. (It wouldn't have to be realistic because no one cares about realism when playing these free online games. :) )
Ideas anyone?

Some thoughts,
I've always wanted to produce a tennis simulation game. It seems to be one of the last great sports yet to be mined into a text sim.
The problem I've always had was in finding the role of the gamer. Should he play the role of the tennis player? If you randomly get a crappy player who's never going to ascend past the sattelites, it's not fun. Plus, there's that whole aging thing, and declining skills. And what do you do when your player retires?
The best solution is to build an artifical stable structure into tennis. Some sort of manager cum agent cum trainer clearinghouse. You could negotiate contracts to represent the players, upon which time you could basically run the players' lives. Work out endorsement contracts, manage their training, enter them in tournaments, and so on. Of course, if you botch things up, the player will terminate your agreement.
The big problem I have with this is that it is not how it happens in reality. But, if people are willing to bend reality for the sake of a decent game, then this would probably be the best solution.

Maybe the gamer could play the role of "insane father."
