View Full Version : Question about Yellow Cards and League Matches

Well, I've got a guy (Danilo Valero Gonzalez - #7677868) who has 2 Accumulated Bookings.
The thing is, he's been listed like this for the past 2 Weeks.
I have sat him out of my past 2 League Matches (this past Sunday's and the previous Sunday's) because of this, but still no change.
Do I need to do something besides just not list him as a Starter of Backup in my Match Lineup?
Gonzalez is a guy I'd like to possibly start as a Midfielder, but what would happen if I did put him in the Lineup but he wasn't eligible to play? Would I be a man short, or would the player listed as the backup at that position get the start instead?
THANKS!!!

I think a guy with two yellows can play. He will be suspended if/when he gets a third yellow... I think you are safe to play him...

Oh Damn.. I always thought 2 Yellows merited a 1 Game Suspension, just as 1 Red Card does.
Don't tell me I've been sitting this guy out for no reason..

Bookings aren't removed from a player's "record," if you will, by sitting them out of matches. They will stay there until the end of the season, when cards reset.
In the meantime, if you play him and he accumulates his third yellow card, then he will be inelligible for the next league match. He won't be sent off the pitch immediately or anything like that (unless he gets red-carded). Once a player gets suspended for a match and sits one out, then his cards are reset to zero. So go ahead and play him.
The only time you would want to to sit out a player with 2 cards is if you have a very important match the following week, and don't want to risk the player receiving their third card in the match prior, therefore being inelligible to play in the important match.

BTW, when I guy gets his 3rd yellow, he'll have a red card icon after the match in which he earned that 3rd yellow and I'm pretty sure you won't be able to put him in your lineup the next competitive match even if you try. My recollection is a little fuzzy, though.

No problem Frogman. :)
Hopefully this will not fire up MK's troops for when we play our home and home friendly.

BTW, 2 yellow=1 red ONLY if the 2 yellow are in the same match, in which case he will be asked politely to leave the pitch immediately.

I just played a friendly where my opponent had two players asked politely to leave the pitch, the second at the 85th minute when he had a 3-1 lead. I scored goals in the 89th and 90th minute for a draw.

My recollection is far from perfect, but I'm fairly certain that you can try to put him in, but he'll just be absent when the game starts, so he won't be allowed to play. You'll be down a man for the whole match, so I wouldn't advise this.
