Overpriced crap.
Not worth buying unless you train scoring or passing. A decent third or back-up foward.

3rd or 4? yea maybe for you, but for us new teams he would start... Plus... I was gonna daytrade him.

Daytrading a nasty player for a $10-20,000 profit is a nice way to end up in last place next season if you do it often enough. TS will bite you in the ass if it's low and your opponent's is high.

hey, thanks for the headsup... The common strategy of DTers is to hire a new coach every week before matches, that way you can go MOTS and keep the Spirit calm... Im not doing too much daytrading yet(maybe next season when Im in VI.) but just buying and selling a few guys here and there to make up for what I've lost.

Just keep in mind, coaches will be more expensive next season and if you're in D6 you won't be making enough money to daytrade without sacrificing the integrity of your training program.

I'll be making money as Im daytrading...

You're not listening. The inherent cost of daytrading is multifold.
1) You have to buy players
2) Hope to sell them at a profit
3) Lose your TS when new players don't get along well
You can MOTS every week and fire your coaches, but what if a decent coach costs $50,000 next season? Do you really think you'll be able to make $700,000 just to spend on coaches?
If you fire a coach every week, it'll retard your training process unless you shell out enough money to keep the standard (ie passables every week). As a D6 team, you won't be making a lot on attendance or sponsorship. You probably won't do well in the US Open Cup and would need to bring in over $ 1.5 million just to upgrade your team substantially (half for coaches, half for players, and we haven't even discussed upgrading your arena). If you're making even $25,000 profit per transaction (which isn't likely) you'd need to make at least 60 transactions in a 14 week season.
Seems like a lot of work with little benefit to me.

Mini-Daytrading will work fine, without hurting the T.S. too much... I've talked to karate(fumpen owner, Master Daytrader) and the Daytrading Fed about it... they explained to me what the postitives and negatives are at my level.... I have a decent understanding of what Im doing.

jus to change the subject slightly, this guy isn't that great because he has no passing skills at all... forwards are half scoring and half passing if i'm not mistaken... you'd be better off with a passable/passable
BillyMadison

McSweeny, your right... look at it form a Daytrading prospective though... :)

I've got strong wing attacks & inadequate central. My current forwards are passable/inad, passable/passable (scoring/passing), so I don't have much hope of bumping the central. I want a solid or excellent scorer though, for the increase in the wing attack. Passing is a very distant second concern.
Just putting in another view point.

Exactly McSweeny, this guy is overpriced even if you are a DT. Only the newbs out there will go for him if they have enough money.

One way to boost your central attack and midfield is to play a Central Defender offensively. Of course you have to have a central defender with the right stats to do that.

wrong! Training scoring has solidified my belief that it's 75-25, maybe even 80-20

really? i always thought passing was a large part of a forward... would you care to elaborate?

before he got injured, my solid/poor (70k before injury) striker in inad form played as good as my pass/pass (148k) in solid form. In passable form, the pass/pass plays worse than the solid/poor in pass form.
The solid/poor when played with my solid/inad (3-5-2) gives me
solid-solid-solid. the pass/pass with solid/inad gives me solid-pass-pass (defensive coach)
2 levels passing for 1 level scoring (what I go by)
star wise (EVIL):
pass/pass = mid solid/poor OR very low solid/weak
ratings wise:
solid/poor will give you better ratings than pass/pass.
they'd both cost about the same wage wise if all other stats were the same with the solid scorer giving better attack ratings.
but I'm abandoning the 3-5-2 and running straight 3-4-3 (suicide I know) so
I'll be able to further determine after next season :)

interesting... i've been considering training scoring and i was planning on mixing in a few weeks of passing... but now i'm not so sure. I'd love to hear whatever other conclusions you come across

passing is good for market value. A solid/pass will sell for about 50-100k more than a solid/poor-weak %90 of the time. but not worth the lost training to me.

panther is right, don't train passing. You can buy young passable/weak forwards for cheap. they will do for now.
and as for running a straight 3-4-3 that is sucide. Run a 3-4-3 with 3 middy's, you'll do much, much better.

what I meant was I'm running 3-4-3 as my only formation. I was running
3-5-2 in league and 3-4-3 in friendlies.
I do run 3-4-3 with 3 IMs. My other choice was 3-4-3 with 2 IMs and
a winger TM (pass Winger/PM) but I'll get slightly better MF and roughly same D
with only slightly weaker attack on that side using 3 IM :)

ohhhh, well a 3-4-3 with 3 im's isn't sucide. Second best formation in HT :) Just make sure you have good middy's.

I'll second (or third) the opinion that passing IS NOT of paramount importance for forwards. I train forwards, and many times I buy forwards with passable scoring and weak/poor passing. My offensive ratings with these players are very good, and I'm leading my series in goals by a long margin. Panther said his observation was about 80/20 for scoring. I'd have to agree.
I think stamina might even be more important for forwards than passing, although I'm not basing that statement on anything but a small hunch.
Also, when it comes to selling time, it seems on average many (not all) people realize that passing isn't that great for forwards and aren't willing to pay a premium for it...so I definitely WOULD NOT train passing for the forwards, but if you do, let me know what you find :) However, I usually sell forwards at solid of exc. I don't know how much passing plays a factor in the higher skill higher priced forwards...anyone have input on this?

passing is more valuable for the market value of a player. especially when you
get into the higher skills. a Brilliant/solid is worth substantial ammount more than a Brilliant/weak BUT
say you've got an excellent/weak 17 y/o striker:
if you throw in a week of passing here and there (let's use 2/1 ratio)
assume these rates: scoring/passing
17 = 7/4
18 = 7/4
19 = 8/5
20 = 9/6
s-s-p-s-s-p-s-s-p-s-s-p-s-s is what a years training would be so:
10 weeks scoring with 4 weeks passing
age scoring passing level (scoring/passing)
17 10/7 = 1+3 4/4 = 1 formidable +3 / inad
18 10/7 = 1+3 4/4 = 1 outstanding +6 / passable
19 10/8 = 1+2 4/5 = +4 magnificent +1 / passable +4
20 10/9 = 1+1 4/6 = +2 world class +2 / solid +1
all scoring training no passing:
17 14/7 = 2 outstanding / weak
18 14/7 = 2 magnificent / weak
19 14/8 = 1+6 world class +6 / weak
20 14/9 = 1+5 titanic +2 / weak
21 world class/solid will sell for more than a 21 world class/weak
but 21 titanic/weak will see for LOTS more than world class/solid
not to mention once you get that high, you gotta worry about wages, and the solid passing = higher wages...
