A girlfriend of mine sent me a link to a site with a bunch of Wonder Woman pictures on it (she thinks it's funny that we play HeroClix!) and I wanted to bring back some adolescent dreams from my older bretheren. So, enjoy....

I read in one of the Chicago newspapers that its actually in the works and the first choice for the role is Sarah Michelle Gellar...

Weird, as soon as you mentioned it, Demi Moore just popped into my head for the role, a little old per say, but she could pull it off.

Ack....SMG is too waify for the role.
Demi would have been perfect 10 years ago.

This is the kind of thing about Hollywood that drives me crazy. Do a real search for an actor. Don't just pick a big name. Sarah Michelle Geller is too short and too skinny. Sandra Bullock has the size and coloring. But am I alone in expecting WW to have fairly impressive juggs.
Picking a flat-chested WW is like having a fat Superman.

Hey, if Steven Seagal thinks he can pull off playing Jimi Hendrix, then I'll buy SMG as Wonder Woman.

Who knows, maybe this would signal SMG putting back on some weight and regaining her 'hotness' and maybe a little healthiness.

We had a discussion of this awhile back. I don't recall the thread, but I found a couple of articles that mentioned it. Here's another, from a Losers of the Week article on June 13 at azcentral.com:
STEVEN SEAGAL
File this under Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire Down Below. The marshmallow martial arts actor raised some eyebrows when he announced this spring that he would play Genghis Khan in an upcoming movie, a role that's been mercifully left alone since The Conqueror, where John Wayne donned a Fu Manchu mustache and drawled, "You're beautiful in your wrath," to Susan Hayward. This week Seagal informed Star Magazine he's also trying to raise funds for a Jimi Hendrix biopic. That in itself is bad enough - the last time Seagal brought Hendrix music to the big screen it was in Under Siege, where Tommy Lee Jones was a crazy old hippie who air guitars Jimi's "Star Spangled Banner" as he sends a nuclear missile to Hawaii. But Seagal wants to play the Voodoo Chile himself? Who would even pick up the lunch check for that brain wave?
Last time we looked, Seagal was a hulky (you can call him fat) 50-year-old Caucasian with greased-back hair, hardly a match for a sleek soul brother. So what are Seagal's qualifications for purple hazing? According to Seagal, he's "a great guitar player and a passable singer," and he owns one of Hendrix's Marshall amps and most of Hendrix's music on CD. And Danny DeVito wanted too much money.

Wonder Woman is Amazonian....the actress needs to be tall, and needs to be busty!
Sarah Michelle Gellar & crew ruined Scooby Doo, now she's going to ruin Wonder Woman?
Speaking of Seagal, Kelly Lebrock would have been pretty good a decade or so ago. Hmm, Joan Severance would have been good as well...
Catherine Bell maybe? Much lesser known, but I might not mind Athena Massey in the role (don't know how tall she is though). Or even C Z-J.

What the hell is wrong with finding a bigger actress with a large chest and decent acting chops regardless of her name recognition? Lynda Carter came out of nowhere for the TV role, why not the same for the movie? Tobey Maguire wasn't exactly a household name and he did just fine for Spider-Man.
If we must pick a known Hollywood actress, the best candidate I can think of off the top of my head is Uma Thurman with a brunette wig. She's big enough to be an amazon woman, has the chest requirements and is a very good actress to boot. Admittedly she's a bit unusual-looking rather than the all-american looks of Lynda Carter, but she's much better-suited than Sarah Michelle Gellar (who's plenty cute and talented, but not right for this role).
The thought of Steven Seagal playing Jimi Hendrix is so absurd I'd have to see it purely for the UIC factor.

A few options
Yasmine Bleeth (once she got back in shape from the baby)
Lucy Lawless would have been perfect a few years ago.
Rose McGowan (if she could act)
Jeri Ryan (she's got the bod)
Katherine Zeta-Jones

Aside from Lucy Lawless, none of these women really strike me as 'amazonian'. I suppose the movie doesn't have to adhere to that part of WW's backstory (witness the revision of the Hulk's history) but it seems pretty ingrained to me - I'd have a hard time seeing a petite or even normal-sized woman in the role and find it acceptable.
Why not find a relative unknown who can really define the role, like Lynda Carter did for the TV version? She and Loni Anderson helped define a youthful obsession for hooters in my generation...

Ryan and Bleeth are pretty large. But either way, it's got to be someone with big boobs.

According to EW, SMG is not a lock for the part. They are still looking. An actress, and a director for that matter, should be selected in the next six weeks.
FWIW: I had a huge crush on Lynda Carter when I was a kid. It will be difficult for any actress to fill her...uh...shoes.

Too old, and not an actress.
Ali Landry maybe? Oh wait, not really an actress either :) But Lynda Carter was a Miss USA, so.....(apparently Carter is 5'9'', so pretty tall, but not towering ;) )

Heh, call Chyna, I mean, Joanie or whateverthehellshehastogobynow because the WWE owns the rights to Chyna, but I digress...
I mean, that's the very definition of Amazonian right? ;)

Too fake.
I'd go with Zeta-Jones if I had to pick from among the named actresses and 'actresses' that have been suggested. She's sexy as all hell, a good actress, and she has that sort of exotic something that'd be good. I guess that if she were shot correctly we could be fooled that into believing she had a Carter-esque rack.
But I think that there have got to be plenty of unknowns with talent (both kinds:D) that could fit the bill.

I think Lucy Lawless would be a perfect mature WW. She has it all.

I would say "except the acting ability" but it's not as if superhero movies are about acting.

Angelina Jolie, while not "Amazonian" does possess an at least satisfactory rack. With a pushup braw, I could even buy Jennifer Garner.

I have to admit Jolie crossed my mind. They might have trouble covering up tattoos though :) Garner I'm not all that fond of (she's ok, but haven't understood the level at which everyone has proclaimed she is hot).

I completely agree with the notion that the performer needs to possess certain visual attributes consistent with our existing image of WW. Translation: monster rack, please.
I think Jeri Ryan is the best play among those brought up so far... but I may be biased. I could support a nobody actress who looked the part over an established acrtess who doesn't.

I second the rack :) Jeri Ryan might be ok...would she have to dye her hair darker though?
Hmm, too bad JLH is too short (I think her rack is um, pretty nice :D)
