With my first Hattrick regular season under my belt, and a qualifier match against a bot team that should be a total walkover, I'm looking at my series and how it should shape up for next season.
Here's a look at the final standings for V.45:
Gaithersburg Bhoys 61 - 22 34
beachbison 31 - 17 28
Bobcat United 45 - 22 27
HC Dukes 45 - 30 25
Drunken Crusaders 45 - 36 21
White Trash 29 - 37 16
Saigon 23 - 54 12
whackers 10 - 71 3
I'm the Drunken Crusaders. I basically wasted the first 4 or 5 weeks I was in Hattrick doing all the wrong things, and then dug out of the cellar after I came here begging for help.
Here's my own assesment of where I stand for next season (please feel free to contribute your opinions - that's why I'm posting this, after all ;) ):
Even with a bad start, and a few stumbles along the way, I've got the two highest scorers in the series, and according to what I've gleaned from HatStats, basically one of the top three teams after Gaithersburg Bhoys F.C. departs to Div. IV. I've also got the second-best keeper and one of the best midfielders of the remaining teams. I expect tough competition next season from beachbison, HC Dukes, and Bobcat United, but I'm confident I will continue to improve as I am now debt free (though hardly rich), but training good keepers that should improve my team and also prove profitable (I presently have three passable keepers, with two close to popping to solid). My stadium has already undergone a major upgrade, and I have a solid, attacking coach. I'd like to buy some better midfielders, and maybe another forward, but that's not a huge concern at the moment.
Saigon and whackers will be gone next year - replaced by, well, I dunno - any way to find out? So there's two unknowns. The third is White Trash. They suck, but there owner never logs in - I expect they'll be replaced, too. Then there's whoever may get relegated from Div. IV. Again, no idea who that will be, and not sure how to find out (help, please?)
Of the teams I DO know of, I'm confident I can beat out for a series title, barring any major disaster. The only bug in the ointment is if a really solid team comes down from Div. IV, or, up from Div. VI. I suppose it's also possible one of the idle owners is replaced with a more competent one that draws a good squad and shakes things up.
On another note - I'm thinking of changing my team name. I know I've already got a cool logo and all that, but truthfully, I picked the name on a whim, just as sort of a sarcastic joke, as I don't drink, and have never been drunk. I figure now that I'm getting serious about hattrick, and I have an opportunity at the end of the season to make the change, it would be the best time to do it - my supporter base is growing, but 3% attrition won't kill me at this point. If I wait another season, it could be a much more bitter pill to swallow.
Your feedback is welcome. :D
