Remember when I drafted that 2nd round QB Mario McCoy ?
He had an overall rating of 72 and we talked about him and that hi might end up being an 80-82 max guy...
Well, I have yet to see that since I'm still playing his rookie season (year 3 of my career) but he is quite amazing.
For the record, after I selected him in the draft, I played him in Pre-Season and we so good that I decided to hand him the starting job and trade my two-time All-League QB Jeff Garcia for some good pickup in return.
I went to the Bears and sent Garcia against their Safety Mike Brown (the #1 safety in the league the past season) and their 2nd round pick next year.
Regular season begins, painfully, Mc Coy show he's not quite ready yet and his play the first couple of weeks is far from what I used to have when Jeff Garcia was under center for me.... we go 0-2 and after back to back 13-3 seasons (that producted later 0 Playoffs Wins !) I'm seriously contemplating my first season without post-season.
BUT
by Week 3 Mario McCoy, the rookie 2nd round pick, has a 417 yard, 3 TD game and from then, we roll onto a 6 game winning streak to now be 6-2 halfway through the season.
Mc Coy leads all QBs with 2135 yards and 18 TDs (I play "coach mode" choosing the play only and letting the AI run it) and is so far :
- All-league QB
- 4th in the MVP race
- Offensive Rookie of the year
It's pretty cool.
One other thing that changes from my previous regime (Garcia) is that Mc Coy looks MUCH more for my other wideout Tai Streets.
I mention this because in my first tso years, Terrell Owens was the targer of 70% of my passes (again, it is the computer, not me, that decides what to do).
This time, Mc Coy seems to have a great "relationship" with Streets and his numbers have been pretty amazing this year, he's eclipsing Owens in many games and has better receiving stats so far than him !
