I'm deliberately refraining from sharing this for now... ;)

Well the team cancer tag (unless you have someone with solid leadership) is a turnoff. However, his passing skill is awesome. You can play him offensive, or defensive. His age is old. Wouldnt be a trainable solution. I'd say maybe 75k-115k. But that's just what I would pay.

If you paid to at or over his value then you paid too much. It's very relative to a team's needs though, if you really needed a IMF for next season then the price could be justified up to $175k

What do you train?

I'd go with illinifan. Less than 75K is a very good buy, more than 100k isn't.

Yes, I'd say you overpaid a bit (transfer histories are public record) -- if he were say 24, then he'd probably be worth close what you paid. Fact is he'll be 28 very soon so that's quite a minus. He is an offensive guru though (passable passing and head).

I doubt you could get that player for 100K even in the current slow market. The passable passing really drives up his market price.

Now to go find out what you paid.

Yes, I would say that you very much overpaid after seeing how much you paid for him. For that kind of money for an oldie like that he would have to be a clown. However, you might get 3-3.5 stars out of him if you play him offensive.

I think if you look around at all the markets you could find someone similar for cheaper. While the passing drives it up, I doubt it should drive it up that far for a 27 yo soon to be 28.

Well even with inadequate stamin, Acuna gets 2.5 stars as a normal IM. With two weeks of stamina training, he should be at excellent and could give you 3.5 stars. I imagine he is a big upgrade for you at IM and will consequently have a big effect on your team's performance. You paid a steep price for him, but you should get 2 solid seasons out him before you need to jetison him before his market value plunges at about age 30.

On the subject of IM with less than desirable stamina, anyone want to hazard a guess on this guys value.

I'd guess the bad passing drops his value a good bit. Maybe around $200K?

Note: I'm not very up on the higher value guys so I'm just taking a stab.

Disastrous passing, ouch. I would think he'd pull 2 stars in a game, but will sell for more than that value because someone will try and get his stam up and he's relatively young.

Ouch! I hope you are way off and not my estimate. With the decent def secondary, he would be played defensively, so his passing skill is largely irrelevant (at least that is what I am telling myself).

He pulls 2 stars even with the weak stamina. should be 3 (or more?) at excellent. I train PM, so I am not sure it is wise to keep him around since he will train slowly. But I will need every bit of MF I can get to avoid auto-demotion next season in div IV.

I'd think he'd get 3 with passable form and excellent stam. But I think you're right in selling him. It's a risky proposition to try and rely on stamina training since you don't know if he'd be selected for an increase and his form might drop.

Yeah, I was afraid I had bid too much, but I'm just not able to thoroughly track the transfer market it seems - not enough time.

Still, he's a significant improvement at midfield for me, and I'm hoping to get at least one or two seasons out of him. I'll be working on stamina in the offseason, so hopefully I'll get that improved.

Well I will find out tomorrow morning if anyone wants him.

After doing a little looking at some other countries, I figure what you are asking isn't totally unreasonable. It might be slightly high, but you might get lucky and someone bite. Most guys I found similar were in the $300-350K range, but none had been bid on yet so it's hard to tell if they'll sell or if they'll be bidding wars on them.

I'd like him, but I'm a little short on cash at the moment. Do you take third part out of state checks?
