So my team got really lucky and won it's qualification match in overtime today. This has presented me with some mixed feelings about the win, as my team probably could've used another season in Div V prior to playing with the big boys in Div IV. But, ready or not, I'm heading to Div IV. So, I'd like some help figuring out how best to stay afloat in my new division.
My team, in a nutshell: I'll put up about 47-55 NSI per week and most of my new competitors put up NSIs in the high 50's and low 60's (with one flirting with the low 70s). I've got 1135 supporters and a 20k seat arena. After receiving my bonuses I'm $104k in the black, with a few players transfer listed. My coach is inadequate.
I see three obvious options to improve the team, and I feel they're mutually exclusive due to my cash flow limitations (all of which would land me in some debt):
1) try to improve my NSI by adding a mid-level impact player, perhaps a solid/solid striker or midfielder, and keep the stands filled with more competitive play;
2) enhance my stadium to capitalize on the cup madness and hope I can win enough to keep fans coming to the matches; or
3) try to get a better coach to improve on-field play and training. I've already spent $150k on this option over the course of the last two seasons, and inadequate was the best I could get.
I'm leaning towards the stadium improvements, as that has the best chance of enhancing my bottom line the fastest. Any thoughts on these options? Or other options I should consider?
