View Full Version : Hattrick Idiot Observations and Questions

Ok... a few observations and questions on my Hattrick postseason:
1.) I played a qualifier against a Div. VI bot team to avoid relegation. I won 6-0. Yay, me. My problem is this - I MOTS'ed. I've won 9-0 against real teams when I PIC. What did MOTS do for me? Besides piss off my team, that is... my team ratings weren't really that much different. Here's this week's ratings:
Drunken Crusaders
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: inadequate
Right Side Defence: passable
Central Defence: solid
Left Side Defence: solid
Right Side Attack: passable
Central Attack: solid
Left Side Attack: solid
Now here's last week - while I PIC'ed:
Drunken Crusaders
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: poor
Right Side Defence: passable
Central Defence: passable
Left Side Defence: solid
Right Side Attack: solid
Central Attack: solid
Left Side Attack: excellent
I don't see a dramatic difference. I can probably attribute the improvement in midfield this week to the new IM I acquired and subsequently started for a nice 3 star performance. So, basically, I think MOTS was a waste of my time.
2.) My arena didn't sell out for the qualifier. WTF? I thought this was pretty much a lock. Instead, I was about 200 seats short of a sellout. To add insult to injury, I had to split the take with the visiting team it appears - my crowd revenue this week was $41,303. Last week it was $86,187. I feel violated.
3.) I'm training keepers, but I wanna train stamina for the offseason. Will I have to fire my keeper coaches and hire regular assistants? Or can I keep 8 keeper coaches and 2 regular assistants and still train OK?

Team Spirit resets at the end of the season, so there's no reason not to MOTS. As for the ratings, I can't really explain them. Maybe your team's form was down overall?
My understanding is that MOTS gives a small boost to your midfield play. I could be wrong about it, but I vaguely remember someone posting that at some point.

Correct.
The only (visible) effect of MOTS/PIC is your midfield rating.

Ok... what about the stamina training question?

frank, this was asked this past week. My take was that no, you don't have to switch assistant type.

I believe you can train stamina without any negative effect with keeper trainers, so you can just keep the ratio you have now. The only benefit of firing them and bringing in assistants would be to form for you other players (probably not enough to warrant the cost of firing and hiring multiple times IMO).

Another observation... and to this, most of you will say, "well, duh..."
The keeper market is flooded right now, and that's what I'm training. I have one solid and three passables on my squad now. I am nearly $200K in debt. Should I:
1.) Stick with the keeper training, since that's my only youth anyway, and just accept the declining market value. If I do this, at what point do I sell the keepers? Solid? Excellent? How long can I expect it to take to train them to whatever level they should sell at if I have a solid coach?
2.) Sell two of the passables, keeping a passable and solid on the team. Will a solid keeper win Div. V.45? Switch my training regimen... to what? I'll hardly have enough cash after selling two passables to really buy good prospects...
3.) All of the above - Stick with the keeper training until I can sell them at excellent (or higher?) and then switch when I have more cash...?
Your candid advice is welcome and much appreciated.

I know somebody out there (Afoci? Alf? Qwikshot? TP6?) posted a GK training thingie so you can approximate when your keepers will bump.
So I'd look at that first, to see how close you might be.
However, if the market is flooded at the moment, you most likely won't get as much as you might at other points in the season. I suggest sticking it out with the GK training until you get solids and excellents, then sell off the 2 you don't want. Yes debt sucks but according to HAM's transfer thingie, market value for my 300k+ valued solid GK is only marketable for 221k or so...
I also don't know much about D V.45, but a solid keeper really can't hurt ;)

Dumb question? But whats the point of keeping 4 keepers when you can only train 2? Wouldn't it be better to sell off 2 of them take what you can get and focus training on your best 2 of 4.?
Even though you say the market is down I did sell a passable off last week for 125K and hope to sell another tonight for 75K. With that money I'm buying a solid. I dont know about your V.45 but my V.201 is getting real tuff (1st place team lost Q match and will return for another season) So I feel I need at least a solid keeper if im going to hang around and compete.

The key to keeper training is either daytraining (buying high inad/pass and selling as soon as they pop) or training keepers up to excellent/formidable, where the market is not flooded. I suggest one of the two routes.

I'd stick with it, I think the market will return to normal again once the season starts and people like me stop daytraining keepers.

Ok... I've got it... but I'm not sure what it all means.
What is "Units Trained?" How do I know what my Coach's Level is?
This looks like a very cool spreadsheet...

Sorry for getting into this a little late, but the only keeper market that is flooded is pullable level crap. Don't waste your time only training keepers up to solid or less. In the US right now there is a whopping 13 keepers for sale above that are rated above solid. Sell off your two passables that are farthest away from popping and stick with the program. The two passables should get rid of at least most of your debt and you will make a big chunk of change when you sell your trainees at excellent or better.
PS - Your coach is solid.
