I am planning to go see 3 movies this week, since I was out of town last week.
I was wondering if you guys could help me with each one by rating them.
1 star being the worst and a 5 star being the best.
Terminator 3
League of Extrodinary Gentlemen
Pirates of the Carribbean
Thanks in advance.

I would highly reccomend seeing Pirates of the Caribian. Saw it a couple days ago and it was a visually impressive movie with one helluva performance by the actor who played Captin Jack Sparrow. Haven't seen the other two, but I'd probably give Pirates at least a 4.5
Yeah, I would also recommend Pirates of the Carabbian. Johnny Depp(Captain Jack Sparrow) did give a very good performance. Only con to the movie is that it seems a bit strung out as it is 2 hours long. Great movie though.
I'd give it a 4.

Only seen one of them, T3....I liked it, it wasn't great but good. Not sure about even seeing the other 2.

I saw T3, way above expectations, but not as good as the second one. That would be saying a lot anyway.
Pirates, heard nothing but great things here. Plus, Depp is one of my favorite actors. He always does a fine job.
LOEG, heard nothing but crap here. Plus I don't care for Connery all that much.

From what my friends have said, better than T1, worse than T2. So judge it based on how much you liked those two movies.
League of Extrodinary Gentlemen
-1. Worst movie I have seen in a theater in a long time, possibly ever. Obviously painted sets, nothing that wasn't predictable or already done a million times in the script.
Pirates of the Carribbean
5. Best movie I have seen in a theater in a long time. IMO, the character of Jack Sparrow does to the "pirate genre" what William Munny did to the "Western genre" in Unforgiven.
Thanks in advance.

Haven't seen LXG or T3.
I'd give PotC 3.5* out of 5, if I'm judging it standing alone.
Probably more like 4* if I judged it against the movies I've seen in the past few years.

Do you normally go to 1 movie every 5 days or so?

My boss liked Pirates as well. I'm planning on seeing it myself, as everyone I've spoken to who has seen it has liked it.

Pirates was excellent. Depp should get an oscar, but he won't of course.
Terminator 3 far exceeded my expectations, but they were quite low to begin with. It was a pretty good movie, but not on par with the last one, IMO
I have yet to see the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. We almost saw that instead of T3, but I heard a bad review that same day. Since then I've heard some good reviews as well, so I still might go see it. Looks kind of silly though.

T3 - plot-lite, lots of action, neat twist at end - middle of the road movie
Pirates - Tries to be two seperate genres and can't decide whether to be light-hearted or serius. As such, the serious moments never really have any weight behind them, and so forth. Disney-esque.
Will see League next week.

Agreed. His performance was up there with Jason Lee in Dogma. Classic delivery and gives a great identity to Captin Sparrow with the little things he does.

Jason Lee is the single greatest actor there is.

I have seen all three:
LXG: 2.5 stars. It isn't an award winner or anything, but I found it enjoyable for a matinee.
T3: 3.5 stars. I did not have great expectations, but found this suprisingly good. A few too many "I'll be back(s)," but overall pretty good.
Pirates: 5 stars. The best film I have seen, probably, since the first LotR.

Okay, so you said you're planning on going to see 3 movies. And you want some advice on what 3 movies you should go see. But you only list 3 movies. So why ask for advice? :)
I'm assuming you're really wanting feedback if you should go see all three, or if there is some other movie not listed that perhaps you should consider. Is this correct?

I haven't seen any of them, but I've heard nothing but good things about Pirates. T3 I've heard mixed reviews. I'm sure though if you liked the first two you'd like the third.

Watched all 3 in the past 2 days as I had time to kill between and after jobs (I love working at a mive theater, free movies).
T3 - I never really liked the first 2, and I didn't really like this one. Fans of the series may like it more than me though. I wouldn't spend the money for a ticket.
LXG - saw it this evening "during work" (had to sit and wait for all the movies let out, so sat in and watched it). I didn't really like it either. It didn't seem to make logical sense. Connery really sucks ass lately... he needs to say "you're the man now, dog" in every movie to make it good, imho.
PotC - I liked it, best I've seen Depp in a while. I kept waiting for Orlando Bloom to shoot people rapid-fire with arrows. Not too shabby, but a little long at times. Probably the best pirate movie of the last decade, and one of my top 5 films of the summer.
1. Matrix Reloaded
2. 28 days Later
3. Donnie Darko (DVD)
4. To be determined
5. Pirates of the Carribean
(I figure something will tickle my fancy sooner or later)

I saw League of Extraordinary Gentlemen last night...
I'm easy when it comes to movies. I give it three stars out of five. I think I might have given it two stars had I been sober, though, so the key to enjoying this movie is to be pleasantly buzzed when you go into the theater. The plot jumps and goofy leaps of logic won't bother you this way.
By category (using the Godzilla Blitz Action Movie Rating Scale):
Deaths per minute A-.
Lots of people getting killed throughout the entire movie! Ye haw!
Babes in skimpy clothing D+
The vampire (Mrs. Hawker I think), was merely passable (again, consider that I was buzzed), and wore much too much clothing for the entire movie. And why was there no sexy female villian in tight bikini? Bah. I probably would have given this a D- except that there was a hot babe three rows up who spent the entire movie making out with her boyfriend.
Staying "within the premise" C-
The only way it stayed within its premise was that there basically was little premise to begin with. I'm being nice here, and the beer clouded my thinking enough that I missed many of the frequent leaps of logic, characters, and plot.
Plot and Pace C
Pacing was pretty good for an action movie; there were very few times when I felt myself saying "Hurry up and kill someone, will you!" The plot is transparent, even with beer. Character development is weak; there were too many characters and backgrounds to explain for a movie, so they kind of gloss over everything.
Plot-specific special effects and their quality C
Cheesy but functional.
Acting and Script D
There were a few decent lines, but overall the acting and script were more characteristic of a "B" movie.
Creativity A-
I liked the varied and unique characters.
Godzilla Appearance F
As the calligraphy master Yuusui once said, "There are few movies that wouldn't benefit from an appearance of Godzilla." No sign of Godzilla in this movie, although the enemy that drinks the whole beaker of Mr. Hyde formula comes respectably close to looking like Godzilla. Still, we accept no imitations.

Well. I went to see T3 last night and have to say that I liked it, but it was not as good as the second one.
There was alot of action and some weak lines that Arnold ended up saying that sounded corky.
All in all It was a good movie as they left it wide open for a T4 which I guess will come out in another 6 years or so.
Out of 5 Stars, I would give it a 3.5
I am going to see LEG tonight.
