Here are some of my not necessarily brave predictions about the outcome of HT 6.5

*Millions will whinge about the effects of 6.5. thousands will threaten to quit. Hundreds will. The internet will reverbrate with the whining and bring the down Hattrick server...but it will come back up shortly after.

*The hundreds that quit will not put a dent in HT, as HT will still grow geometrically.

*Despite the changes, the game will be great fun, just as before, just slightly more realistic. The hundreds that quit will grumblingly sign up for new teams in low divisions.

*Many teams will play destruction when they are greatly overmatched. They will still get pounded.

*Thousands of great middies will be dumped on the market for low prices. This won't last long, and the price will stabilize, slightly lower than it used to be.

*Wingers will be the next cash boom gold rush. Thousands will rush to training Wingers. The bottom will fall out, and prices will stabilize. In the end we'll have better wingers.

*Veteran players advancing in age will take heart, as teams now value their experience, and want them, as before they were at best, a clown on the bench.

*Players will become more "alive" and the roleplaying aspect will increase, as great players become experienced leaders, and leaders become great coaches.

*The tactical changes will be a great success, and many new successful strategies and styles will evolve, and many more formations will be played with success, however the principles of building a successful team will remain the same.

[EDIT: Removed tounge-in-cheek prediction about my own team lest folks feel I am arrogant :) ]

I love it! Except I think the HT server would go down regardless of the whining.

Yeah, I would actually love to play Longball, it's a tactic I love, that just skips the MF a little and allows teams with a great passing D and an Awesome up up front set to do well.

And the last prediction:

The conferences will go down.

Edit: The last prediction. . .

Griping that Defense will STILL be undervalued by the HT engine will cause the conferences to go down. . . AGAIN! :D

Your first prediction has come true. There has been much whining and the site is currently down. Well it's back up, but it was down for a brief moment :D

ah yes the beleagured HT server, I almost feel sorry for it...being brought to its knees on a daily basis.

a new prediction --

* The HT server will go two and a half days without crashing. Amazed users will bring it down by posting en masse about its uptime.

To borrow a phrase from one of my friends, the breeze from a gnat farting is enough to crash the Hattrick server most days.
