The Lakers reunited with Horace Grant, the most underrated defensive big man ever.
Oh well, this is probably only big news to me -- Grant was my favorite player for most of the 90's when he was a Bull / Magic man.
Grant's travels: Chicago, Orlando, Seattle, Los Angeles, Orlando again, and now LA again.
Go HoG.

This would be great if it were 7 or 8 years ago.

Just like the Malone and Payton signings... par for the course.

Yea, lets see. Grant played 5 games last year and was released. Payton and Malone were All-stars.

Is that a back spasm reference

No, it's a "stick a fork in him, he's done" reference.

Maybe they can get Kareem back, or hell, just get Jerry West too. Do the Lakers think they can win with a bunch of old guys, Shaq, and Kobe in the stacked West? Well, they probably can, but to say that they should be even penciled in as the clear favorite is simply amusing and doing a disservice to the Kings, Spurs, T-Wolves, and Mavs.

i think they can as long as shaq is health. kobe couldn't carry them last year. when players start breaking legs tripping over malone's walker, it's just going to come down to how healthy shaq is, and how willing kobe is to pass it to him

Given that Malone usually logs major minutes - the dude is in frighteningly good shape - Grant probably won't be needed for anything more than 5-10 minutes per night. With last year off, he *may* just be up that. If it was cheap enough, it probably wasn't so bad a signing. Especially, if Brian Cook can match up with him in practice and learn from him. The basketball part, not the yapping part he's been doing so much of lately.

This is sick, the Lakers getting everybody over 40 they can. All these guys ant a championship run their last year. Lakers will not win a championship, its the Spurs. 100% sure......They have both Kerr and Horry, that means Championship. That is if they can beat the Pistons in the finals.

Grant has nothing left in the tank. This sigining has me feeling more reassured that maybe the Lakers are just signing "big name"old guys with no real intention of going anywhere. Is Dennis Rodman next?

Dennis Johnson, actually

I want to quash the rumour that I signed with the Lakers. I am not interested in playing for that organization, and I can't get along with Shaq. He is a cover hog.
