View Full Version : Series Strategy Question

In my series, there is the somewhat typical setup of one team who's in a class ahead of the rest (furthered by their off-season purchases of two 3-star players). This week, they beat the only team other than mine who could probably compete with them at all (though they're still at a huge advantage). When I play them in Week 7 at home, I'll be riding really high TS, and will have a match immediately afterward to make up a TS hit if I MOTS.
My question - should I not go for the upset (if I MOTS, I'd give myself 3-1 odds), and help him auto-promote to make me more competitive in the series. Or will this backfire in some way?
Thanks!

I am by far the best team in my series, yet I get beat despite putting up +17 NSI points and 2 levels of midfield.
Sorry just had to rant.
I guess anything can happen, so I say go for it.
What type of NSI does he put up?
Who knows what kind of team will be demoted to your series next season. I'm a big proponent of trying to promote every season.

As Conan the Barbarian would say:
"Crush your enemies; see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women."

Exactly. If you don't want to promote, why are you even playing the game?

I would try and beat him, you could win your series this year...and if not I would think you have a better chance of beating this team next season than you would another team that would be demoted. I always go for the win, but I do see where you are coming from on the let him win and hope he promotes.

If you can afford the MOTS, I say do it (seems to be the consensus here). KICK SOME ARSE.
No, I'm not competitive or anything...

Well, I beat the team I played 4-0 while playing it cool.
They weren't a bot team, but I knew they would be easy to beat.
Now comes the rough part of my schedule

Do you not play the same team in weeks 7 and 8? If you play them in 7, you play them in 8 so you can't have an immediate easy match...at least if I am awake and correct.

almighty: I have to be real, and not really give myself a chance in Week 8, on the road.
This team puts up NSI's in the mid-to-high 60's, I believe. Mine are lucky to hit 55.
Based on that, I really don't think I have any shot on the road. So I think I'm more likely to get a greater point total going MOTS-PIC than Normal-Normal, no?
And, btw, it's not that I don't want to promote. I'm thinking it'll be difficult (though maybe not impossible) to win the division. As I think about it, I really do have a chance to steal one from this team, and who knows what can happen from there.
So I'm pretty certain I'll be going for the big MOTS in Week 7, then PIC'ing the next match on the road.
Thanks for the replies!
