View Full Version : I played basketball w a future NFL star this year...
A little background info...
I just transferred from Haughton, LA my Soph yr. and I entered Westgate my JR. year.
I will be a SR. next year at Westgate High School in Louisiana. Right now I am playing basketball and running track.
One of our biggest basketball games of the year (big $$$) is against St. Martinville Highschool. My school is in the same district as St. Martinville, which is district 2-4A I believe? Not sure...
Last school year, my Jr. year, the game we played against St. Martinville was crazy.
Before the game, my teammates were telling me about a guy name Tiger. They told me that he had crazy hops and dunked over our 6'8" center {that is now playing for Centenary U} from the baseline. I was like, no way! I wouldn't believe it until I see it.
It was a home game, Westgate vs. St Martinville, the gym was packed.
During the pre game warmups, I saw the guy my teammates called Tiger. I was like damn! He is bigger than everyone. He looked about 6'4" with a Terrel Owens muscular build. This guys got the perfect phsyique for a football player. Anyway, the game started, he looked like a man playing with little middle school kids, dunked about 4 times, and we lost. He is a dirty ass player. When he set picks, he throws elbows like a mad man and the ref never calls anything. He is the best Highschool player I've ever seen. Well, the most ATHLETIC.
I still didn't now his name --- until today. I always knew him as Tiger. What a nickname eh? I just found out today that his name is Early Doucet. I was looking over the Rivals. Com list.
Suprisingly, he is the #5 ranked guy in the nation! Not in basketball, but for football. I was like damn! I thought for sure he was going to play in the NBA , but seeing him on the football field must be crazier.
He verbally commited to Florida. Doucet is listed as 6'1" but I tell you, that's got to be wrong. He is packed with muscle and is probably 6'2"-6'3" at the least.
I never really go to the schools football games but I will go for sure this year. Just to watch him tear my friends up on the football field.
Also, I will see him twice on the court this year when basketball season starts. I'm excited about the fact this guy is a national recruit.
Here is the link to his bio...

I don't have a rivals membership - but I'm just asking Skydog if he would be nice enough to post videos of Doucet on this thread for us to download.

I've played with Jon Kitna before, at Central Washington. Dunno if he counts as a star tho.....
This is awesome. Heck, he counts as an NFL player. So you played with him? What pos. did you play?

I played against a handfull of NFL'rs in High School. It's sort of unavoidable, playing HS ball in Cincinnati. We played Moeller, Princeton, Hamilton, Lakota(before they split), Lima, Fairfield, Milford...forget who else. Oh yes, Middletown. At any rate, Moeller, Middletown & Princeton are pretty much pipeline schools to the Big 10 and other lesser DI schools.
It was just funny, after the season, finding out how many guys you played against just signed with Ohio State & Michigan. We never had a chance. . .
Oh, I forgot the story. The only guy I went against, was the FB for the Bengals. Can't remember his name right this second. I was a WR, and he was a linebacker. They pulled him out to help the CB by having him "bump" me at the line. Funny thing though. I saw him line up right over me & was expecting a shot. I mentally went through the techniques for inside & outside releases depending on what he did. The guy never touched me. I just ran right past him. I don't think it was a real part of their defensive alignment, just one of those defensive brainstorms that happen in HS football on the sideline & somehow don't work. They probably told him to line up on me, but didn't tell him specifically to jam me, so he didn't. That, or he was a moron. Well, heh did become a Bengal, so..well, could be either.
My soph. year at Haughton - we scrimmaged National Powers ECA -
At that time, the QB was John David Booty.
For those that don't know,
John David Booty is the younger brother of Josh Booty who once played QB for LSU and is now the back up for Kelly Holcomb and Tim Couch in Cleveland.
JD Booty was suppose to be a SR in high school this upcoming year. Well, he took summer school for the English credit he needed and graduated early so he could go to USC ahead of time. JD basically skipped his SR. of HS for USC.
JD was projected as the #1 recruit for the class of 2004.
Anyway, the point is, we scrimmaged them for spring, and got our asses handed to us.
I played with Earl Boykins on my visit to Eastern Michigan. Actually, the only reason I remember this, is because of his size and he introduced himself as Earl, and that stuck....

I played catch in a swimming pool with Earl Campbell when I was like 7. I had no idea who he was, but my dad was in awe.
My dad used to play intramural football in college with Ken Anderson (Bengals QB).
I was also told I played "backyard" football with Eli Manning at an Ole Miss game when I was really young, but that may be a myth. Though I do have Archie's autograph, so who knows.

No, nobody so distinguished. This guy played 3 years I think, then cost too much for a bad player. He started one year & was part-time the other two. Played HS ball at Middletown. Would've been a Bengal like '97-'99 maybe. Damn me and my fading memory. No, nevermind, damnMikeBrown.
Heck, I wouldn't know. I don't keep up too much with the Bengals. Especially if we're going back to 1997.
When I think of the Bengals from back in the days, I think of Jef Blake to Carl Pickens and Darnay Scott. Ki-Jana Carter was also in the mix at that time eh?

Brian Milne maybe? or Clif Groce?... I would lean toward Milne.. He was actually a very good blocking back, just couldn't do much else. I think Seattle signed him, don't know if he still plays for anyone now or not.

My brother was best friends with Jeff Shepard (GA HS Mr. Basketball and University of Kentucky guard, NBA bench rider) before we moved away during their freshman year in high school. I even shot hoops with both of them a couple of times, and I didn't think much of it at the time. Of course, he was 4 years younger than me, but something must have happened during the following couple of years, because the next thing I know, he's telling my brother about his trips to meet Bobby Knight, Coach K, Dean Smith, etc. Clearly the most famous person to come out of my high school.
He played a bit with the Atlanta Hawks and maybe another team, and I think he might have ended up over in Europe when the NBA teams stopped calling.

DMB, I can picture the fullback you're talking about but his name escapes me. I played for Moeller, probably about the time you're talking about. I was obviously no star, though I did keep the bench warm for a few of them. I did get to line up across from Big Fatty Wilkinson. He played both ways. He didn't do much. We beat his team something like 50-0.

I played flag football, in the las vegas open of may '02 against then unlv QB Jason thomas, remember him a few years ago, dubbed as the next daunte culpepper. :) lol im not sure if he was even drafted... shoulda been tho. I am proud to say I managed to intercept him in the back of the endzone! tho we got our butts kicked 28 -0 he was playing with a bunch of unlv guys, and some CFL friends. it was definetly an awesome experience, we went and hung with them later in the casinos and stuff...lots of fun tho.

Lima usually sucks, except for the year they won state.
I played basketball against Chris Chambers (WR - Dolphins) and against Joel Pryzbilla (C - Bucks?).

The year we played 'em they got to semi-finals. We played at their place...what a hell hole. Batteries...they threw batteries, paper, food, you name it, at us. A HS football game! It was ridiculous. That, and it took like 2 and a half damn hours to drive up there. Not to mention the fact that they locked us out of the locker-room at half time for about the first 10 minutes, with the crowd pushing & shoving at us. The place was bush league.
hmm I play future nfl players all the time hell i use to live with one.

i don't think early doucet is committed anywhere. i also don't think he's 6'4. maybe, MAYBE 6'2 with high heels
I dunked over Frederic Weiss once.
... Well, not really, that was Vince Carter !

Brain Milne- his name will be remembered by all saints fans for the rest of time. Our first playoff win ever Hakim fumbled a punt for the rams, Milne recovered the ball SAINTS win. One of the greatest days of my life...and a week later we lost to the Vikings really bad.
Milne is still talked about on the saints board I visit quite a bit- and the last I read was he had his own restraunt up in chicago or cincinnati i am not sure, maybe not the same Milne but I am pretty sure that was his first name.
